I’ve ranted often enough about the need to step away from the grayscale world, but this CJ popped up and assaulted my sensibilities.
Even a CJ can’t make silver an interesting “ color” . What should be a work of art is just...meh.
Friends don’t let friends drive boring vehicles.

It could be saved with some bright yellow wheels and some KC HiLites on the roll bar

I don’t usually favor the rattle can treatment, but in this case, a trip to Home Depot is warranted.

I’m going to say calling a CJ a work of art is a bit of stretch.

I think it would look great if it had classic graphics on it.
Just like the silver edition, but so meh without graphics

I mainly don’t like that black column climbing up the back of the rear quarter-panel. That’s not how you do two-tone.
I don’t think the silver looks bad itself, silver is a pretty good color, it’s just overused, but that’s not much of a problem with Jeeps.

That is utterly boring.
One thing I loved so much about my YJ was the color

I get what you’re saying, but color is also the last thing that I care about when I’m buying a car. If I’m buying new, sure, get the fun color. But I buy used, and color ranks lower o n the list than pretty much everything else. That CJ is not a boring vehicle just because it’s silver. Sure it would look better in a bright color, but how many 85 CJs will you find for sale with that same condition/mileage/price?

There was. My neighbor has one, it’s a 1978 or 79 and it’s brown paint with orange graphics.
I actually got the story from him the other day - he bought it “used” with 90 miles on it. Apparently a farmer bought it, took it home, realized he could only fit 2 hay bales in the back, and then drove it over to the Ford dealer and traded it in for an pickup . He said it sat on their used lot for months, he’d see it every day on his drive to work, so eventually he stopped in and they really wanted to get rid of it, so they made him a good deal on it, and he’s had it ever since.

To be fair, it was designed with the idea that it should have at least 1/2" thick layered globs of mud splattered everywhere but where the windshield wipers attempted to smear it away. This photo is effectively just primer.
