This is a valid question and something I have considered, and it would presumably cost six times as much, which would still be cheaper than the typical few M3s I have actually seen for sale.

First thought was “wow, this looks like Warhammer content.” I can’t be alone in that.

It’s the rivets and sponson cannon. Riveted armor and sponson guns are both arguably bad ideas on the way to better ideas, but they’re just cool.

On a totally not related note and having nothing to do with looking Warhammerish, feast your eyes on the Russian five-turreted T-35 heavy:

Kinja'd!!!

I lied. It’s related and Warhammerish.

Also, T-28 variant (?) :

I like the tank chats video on it. The British didn’t like it because it was too tall and the 75mm gun was not in the turret. The Brits accepted it because it was the only tanks the Yanks could build.

If I recall things correctly, it’s almost a Sherman prototype. Sherman drivetrain and running gear, but a multi-piece riveted hull and small turret because the big cast pieces weren’t really ready for primetime... and with the sponson turret added because it was the easiest way to get the firepower in the frame - the “prototype” level hull and turret ring not really allowing for bigger.

They also liked that it could engage the panzer 3 at a range that the panzer  couldn’t return fire.

It was one of the limitations of what would eventually become the m4. They had a good reliable chassis. You’re limited to how crazy you want to go when you have to ship it 1/2 way round the world.

Adding the R/C, recoil, smoke and sound packs, that specs out to $ 6, 897.21, including shipping State-side. Not outlandish for big-scale R/ C  projects.

It’s right on the edge of being able to cram yourself into, Shriner car style. If you were to use magnets and pins for the top plate...

Eh, maybe with my nephews. I’d wind up looking like Jek Porkins in the Family Guy Star Wars ep if I tried.

I’m pretty sure I could fit, but I am extremely flexible. I am not most people. On the other hand, sticking out of the top, I’m not sure most people would care about the historical accuracy of being open and not having a top turret in place.

The 2nd one is the Vickers A1E1 Independent. Only one built and still around at Bovington.

The Char 2C was a bit of a monster as well. Still the largest operational tank ever built.

I didn’t become aware of these via Youtube, I became aware of these due to wondering what Lee/Grants were available for sale, because I occasionally look up things like that.

Maybe my odd browsing habits have confused the internet.

The internet deserves to be confused. And searching for used tanks for purchase is a search that , I believe, we can all agree is proper.
