Yeah, I used to travel a lot on business, and I learned to avoid anything with a CVT when possible. I usually rent from National or Enterprise - National lets you pick the car, and it’s pretty easy to get a different car from Enterprise if you don’t like the one they offer.

Was in Florida last week and we got an Edge - Titanium even!  It was pretty nice, although I had zero patience to learn the Sync interface.

Mine was free, luckily. The Volvo dealership where I bought my car is owned by the Lexus dealership across the street. The Lexus dealership has a Hertz rental counter in the lobby. I was all excited to get a loaner Volvo and they gave me a silver Rogue and it sucked. It was not as bad as the Dodge Journey I got once. Holy shit. It was comical how bad it was.

Free is about a fair price for a Rogue.  We had a Journey a couple of years ago - ugh.  Though I think the Impala we had around that same time might have been worse (it was the previous gen, not the current one).

I had Malibu around the same time. It was the oddest car. I 6'4 and my father is 6'6. We could not get in and out of that pile of shit without folding our necks down onto our shoulders. It was like the roof came down a foot at the doors.

Yup. When my BIL and I were trying to convince his mom not to buy one she asked us “ what’s wrong with a Rouge” and we both just said “nothing, it’s a fine car, but that’s it’s. Its not bad it’s not good it just is. And to us that’s not enough of a reason to throw hard urned money down.”

But for a lot of people NO car could ever be exciting, or fun, or really matter to them at all. This is the Rouge’s target audience. In my MIL’s case she just needed something to replace her old minuivan because all of her kids grew up, and she wanted AWD because of a few times the van got stuck.

Sheesh, that’s piss poor design. There’s plenty of cars with rear doors like that (I’m only 5'9" and I’ll bang my head getting into the back of ANY “4 door coupe” out there), but that’s just stupid in the front.

Yeah I can’t really fault people for buying the Rouge. There’s nothing particularly wrong with it. Roomy and decently comfortable. The powertrain is its biggest negative. Even my mother thought it was too slow and loud when we test drove one. She insisted she needed the V6 in the Jeep Cherokee. I was like okay sold lol
