It was really just a rebodied GTO racer after they killed the GTO and announced the GXP trim for the G6
But it was kinda cool for the time.

And to think, that’s not even the best wing a G6 has left a factory with!

I still miss the old cutlass calais 442 racers. Apparently one of the engineers for the team lived in my neighborhood and had one in his garage the whole time!

Hemingson Firehawk racing. Very good.
I raced a Citation X-11 for a while in SCCA IT . There were som e secrets the Hemingson boys knew because their cars were fast while mine was a plowbox...

One of my friends in college, her dad raced a Datsun 240Z in SCCA for years. One of his secrets was to port/polish the intake and exhaust quite liberally. But to avoid suspicion, he’d stick them in a smoker or in his chimney for a few days and just load them up with smoke and soot for a while. He said it worked really well but he was always afraid he’d get caught since his engine often smelled like ribs.

For mine it was handling. , I suspect the trick on the X bodies and their cousins was to alter the front roll centers and also bump steers in order to make them handle . Meanwhile I could wear out a set of brake pad in a race because it just wouldn’t turn. The 442's were the inspiration, but I suspect that their suspension had been tweaked.
