Ahhhhhh, the 986 Boxster, there are some that cheap enough that make is reasonable to eat the whole case of cyanide pills instead of just one.

I know there’s nothing more expensive than a cheap German car, but damn they are pretty tempting. I’m perhaps lucky I don’t have space for a second car, and am a bit too pragmatic to make one my only ride.

You’ll always be paying for Porsche maintenance, but the price of entry is tempting. Later-model 986 Boxster S is as much fun as any affordable sports car deserves to be. This is probably my fallback car if one day my entire financial
life comes crashing down and I have to start over.

Right. Balanced chassis, high revving flat 6, good handling. What could possibly go wrong?

It’s just a flat four Subaru away.

I would not want to make it more unreliable.

It could be worse - I always find myself circling back to how cheap XJS’s are and how good a V12 trackrat would sound.

The worst shafting you could get would only be intermediate, bearing down upon you, I guess?

I just can’t get past the fried egg headlights...
