If “trickle down” means the government and business come together to piss on workers, we’re in good shape.
I don’t care where you stand on the political spectrum, this is funny shit.

The worst part is that countless hordes still believe in it, ignoring the past ~35 years or so of socio-economic devolution. We’re in for a brave new world.

Voodoo engines= yes.
Voodoo economics= no.
On the other hand, anything written in Splinter is, by definition, very stupid. Unless Jorge Ramos wrote it.

It’s funny, yes, but it’s also cribbed from an old statement made by a New Zealand member of Parliament, probably by way of its mention in this Wikipedia article .

anything written in Splinter i s, by definition, very stupid.
That’s a rather sweeping statement.

Yep, pretty much. Splinter is just bad writing in general. Someone commented on the “journalists” that write for that blog, and I did a small spit take. Bloggers, yes. Journalists, no.

Because they suck... Like they are the left wing fox news.
I’m yet to see a splinter article without a glaring fault or an absolute lie as the center of their assesment.
For fucks sake, they called a piece “Obama doesn’t get it”
Sure, I like some of their articles, because I am a very liberal person, but man, they need to pump the brakes on some of the stuff they publish.

Funny, thought I’d definitely heard jokes predating 2011 from the Reaganomics era.

It is a blog, and they steal (not take or cite) they steal actual journalistic work from other enterprises
And then they complain that journalism is dying or that NYT made a small mistake.

I’d rate it no worse than most Jellopicnic content. These are bloggers, not journalists with real world background in what they cover.

In their defense, Jalopnik does a lot more reporting
than Splinter.
I feel that Splinter is made up of angry people with no actual objective. The Slot is actually a lot better and it’s just a Jezebel sub blog.

I don’t know if I’d call most of that “reporting” - wikipedia insight here, awkward hot take there.
Splinter may be melodramatic at times, but in this case, they’ve nailed it.

It could be that said MP heard the expression from a previous source. The expression “trickle down” has been around forever. It’s not a stretch to come up with the urine reference.

I’ll give them this; I sometimes hover above the articles and see the title and I enjoy some titles.
They do understand
that supply side economics don’t work, but by now it must be a lukewarm take.

. And like crack, I feel bad after
using/reading it.

It may be a lukewarm take of sorts, but tens of millions of Americans still can’t grasp it.
I think The Onion had the best take:

Yea, anytime I read anything from the Gawker group I take it with a rather large grain of salt. I’m very much in the middle politically and these days I feel like everywhere writes bull shit blatantly political op-eds in place of journalism . Real journalism is a rare commodity these days.

Cool. I figured it probably wasn’t the first time that expression had been used, but it was the first time I heard it.

I think that WSJ
and NYT are fairly unbiased in reporting, even if the OpEd seccion gives many of us some sort of cringe.

Most of them are good, but i hate read Hamiton Nolan. On paper we should agree on many things. In practice, i find him insufferable

NYT is pretty good and I don’t read WSJ much so I couldn’t comment on them. I’ll pay more attention to them though going forward.
