Make sure to use good gas and not miss out on your oil changes. This one got an engine. Was using a quart a week. More than half a quart drained out of the intake.

by good gas do you mean 93 vs 87?
I recall back in 2011 how lexus and other manufacturers were sending out notices to their dealers to check all returning leases for how often the knock sensor was tripped. Mostly due to the rescession, p eople were running 87, messin g up their cars, and dumping the leases.

I wonder what my outback looked like when it was at 1 qt/1,000 miles.

We use 87 in my wife’s RX350 with DI but it gets mostly Costco gas which is higher octane than advertised and has good detergents that help the DIs that don’t have the valve sprays with backup deposits

that looks like it was on the every couple of years oil change plan... damn shame...

Shell or Costco, or bust, for me. It's how my Queen rolls.

Toyota’s DI engines actually have both port and direct injectors, unless you were referring to other automakers with that statement.

My Saturn was 1qt/2 full tanks.

Toyota’s newer DI engines do. First gen o f Di didn’t

You mentioned the RX 350, so I figured you were talking about the 2GR-FSE, which has both. Though actually, now that I think about it, the RX didn’t even get the 2GR-FSE; it had the 2GR-FE with standard port injection until the change-over to the 2GR-FKS in 2015/2016, which has port & direct.

Yep! My wife has an ‘09 RX350 so no port injection.

Opposite, actually. Your wife’s car h as a 2GR-FE, which has port injection and no direct injection.

This is the intake side of a 2GR-FE head. Note the absence of injector ports.
The injectors mount in a cast aluminum “lower” intake manifold, that the plastic upper manifold then bolts to. The orange gaskets in the picture below are where the injectors are located.

now you have made me nervous about my Is 250..I use the good gas and let it run to the redline every now and then....but still.....
