I was at Isringhausen Imports in Springfield, Illinois returning some parts I had purchased for my E90 335i and noticed this oddity.
At first glance, I assumed it was a fairly standard 440i, priced more than I would pay for a 440i. Then I looked carefully at the window sticker and saw this “Special Edition 1" option.
Is this real? I pay fairly close attention to German performance cars, but I’ve never heard of this.
I asked the salesmen and he said they weren’t sure why they got it, but BMW told them it is the only one in the world. He wasn’t sure what performance parts it actually included though.
I think it looks cool, but the wheels are kinda dull compared to the sharp wheels on the M cars these days.
I like the Alcantara armrest, but its a little out of place with the rest of the interior being faux-leather Sensa Tech. It really doesn’t have too many options, but the Special Edition 1 price is a whopping $6,980! Honestly for this money, I would get a fully optioned M2 Competition or a CPO M3.
Nevertheless, I thought this was interesting enough to share. Isringhausen does get quite a few interesting cars, but usually they are on the Porsche side of the business. In the BMW showroom were 530s, an X5, X3, X2, and an M850i. I didn’t see nary a M3 CS or M4 CS. Let me know if you have any more information on this odd option!
Maybe this car is a good candidate for “Nice Price or Crack Pipe”?

Just the absurd story is enough to qualify this as NP. It’s brand new & probably always will be.

Ok but absent any other info, I’m assuming that’s just $ 7k additional manufacturer profit.

I’ve officially crossed the old man line with new cars. How in the world is this worth that much money? Things seemed much cheaper before I had to really work for money.

The place is amazing. I even bought a horseshoe at D’Arcy’s Pint before returning to St. Louis.

It’s not worth that. CPO 440is are available for half that price

My unpopular opinion: D’Arcys pint is overrated. The burgers are flavorless even if the cheese sauce and everything else is great. My pick is either dublin pub or lake point grille

I didn’t realize you could still get a 440 x-drive with a manual. Neat.

I refuse to believe this is a real thing. I think that’s just a doctored window sticker. I would definitely reach out to corporate before considering buying this thing.
Nicely equipped (manual + xDrive) 440i coupe for $57k: not bad.
This one for $64k: Crack Pipe

I wouldn’t mind that thicker steering wheel in mine.

Personally, I would never buy this at 64k. I would take an M2 or M3 with no options over this every time.
