That’s a lot of spin-outs waiting to happen
My MR2 needs some performance brake pads; autocross always glazes the stock ones. Any brand recommendations, Oppo?

Hawk and EBC always seem to be bandied about in the autocross conversations.

I’ve always been a fan of EBC for road/ax pads, the Yellow Stuff is a very nice compromise pad for everyday driving and light track use. The BlueS tuff and OrangeStuff are hardcore track pads... I’ve not used Hawk Performance pads recently, but the ones I had on my Alfa 164-S really needed to get some heat in them before they worked well, but I know many people like them.

I use
P
orterfield R4S on my sw20 turbo, no autocross but I do hillcli
mb once a month. I expect most Autocross tracks to be harsher than my hillclimb track.
A
bit dusty but no more than
what you’d
expect in street/
track pads. They’re available online at just about every MR2 specialist site.

Go to RockAuto and find your car, go to the brake pads, find the cheapest ones labelled “economy” and click “add to cart”

If you ask in your local autox Facebook page you will get many expert opinions, likely focusing on sponsors like Carbotech and Hawk.
I don’t even remember the advice I’ve regularly seen . . . My stock pads seem to be holding up fine, probably because I’m not fas t or aggressive enough.

Hawk pads are good. EBCs are good.
I would also suggest getting some drilled/slotted rotors, they run cooler, which helps eliminate glazing.
I used to have glazing issues on my Accent auto-x car regardless of what pads I used, then I added drilled/slotted rotors + good pads and the issue was solved.
