It’s Classical gas. Bonus: Debuted on the Smothers Brothers show.

I would say Metallica’s “To Live is to Die”, but I guess
technically
it’s not an instrumental.

I normally agree, but you’re wrong. It’s Pink Floyd - Interstellar Overdrive.

I disagree, its a very good instrumental, but I think badbadnotgoods 9 minute rendition of various Legend of Zelda songs is the best instrumental ever (in my best billy madison voice)

It’s the rise to the crescendo then the 180° to a quiet melancholy flow. Then, boom, right back to an even larger crescendo.
And those riffs, both fast and slow.
I’ve often thought it would’ve been better if they’d not written another song after the Black Album and put all their energy into writing lyrics for this one.
Edit: The best circumstances in which to listen to this song is in a car, in a snow storm, on deserted roads, on a mission to get home.

Imma let you finish, but Approaching Parvonis Mons by Balloon is one of the best extraterrestrially-themed instrumental tracks of all time.

How about something that was nominated for or won a grammy?
Rush’s “YYZ” was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Rock Instrumental category in 1982 .
“
Cinema
” is an
instrumental
by the
progressive rock
band
Yes
, from their 1983 album,
90125
. In
1985
it won the
Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance
, the band’s only Grammy.
