I am writing a story for A utotr a de r and it could the perfect automobile. It even came available with AWD and a 5 speed manual! With the seats removed you can fit a motorcycle! WHY DON’ T YOU PEOPLE OWN THESE?

Nope. I know someone that has one though. Are they terrible to drive?

Because despite liking it s quirky looks...
1. I don’t have a big dog
2. I am not a 60 year old woman (I swear in my area these are the only type of people I have seen driving them)

One of the guys from the straight pipes has one and he did a burnout on it.

Fun fact: the girl I took to prom had one of these.

When i was last shopping both for my wife and then for myself they were too over priced.
I guess their niche style gives them a bit of cult following, and thus the inflated prices.
Also I wanted a bit more power

Well, my local Honda deal
er doesn’t sell anything of that name, which is as good a reason as any.

You could have made your own Element Si or Type R

Because when I was looking at one I noticed it was only an inch or two higher off the ground than a contemporary Accord. All that extra height is at the top.

I have a big dog and I passed on it.

My mom owns one. It was my step-dad's he used it for transporting his cyclocross bikes and his dd. Hers has AWD and an automatic transmission. The fold up seats work very nicely. I think most of the time the rear seats were not in the car since it was used for 1 person and bikes. We used it to transport a papasan love seat. People were surprised how much cargo room it has. It is a big box, why are people surprised?

More fun than a 2004 Saturn Ion, less fun than a 2005 Hyundai Elantra or MKIV VW.

They haven’t been sold over here since 2010. I looked at one when I was shopping for a new daily in 2017, but I decided I didn’t want an SUV thing that didn’t have much more ground clearance than the (US market) Accord it was descended from. I ended up with an Acura TSX (the most recent Accord in your market ) which I eventually traded in for another Acura that was only sold in North America (and was exported to Japan in very small numbers as a LHD US import).

Recommend them all the time - think I’ve sold two.

I researched them for about 5 minutes before deciding I’d rather have a Jeep. The 2k tow limit made it an easy pass.

I was interested in one, but by the time I had moved and needed a new car they were discontinued. Also, dealers weren’t dealing, kind of like the Jetta Sportwagen TDI I was also looking at. Instead I bought a Mazda5 Sport with the 6MT at about 20% off list and couldn’t be happier.
I do have a coworker that has one. F itting the stereotypes, she’s pushing 60 and has multiple dogs...

Nah

Because the only good ones were the SC models and not nearly enough were made.

I think they look cool and are super useful, was actively looking at purchasing one a number of years ago - but the er go is weird for me, like it was made for really short folks even though it has a ton of headroom. That and the marginal mileage were kinda of deal killer for me...

Personally, because they hold their value too well and the plastic bits, it seemed, made them unnecessary to wash. The underbody of the Minnesota cars disagrees.
Bu t an AWD with a stick would probably be the one car I could drive forever.

They’re not great to drive, and I’ve never needed a small box on wheels that can’t tow anything. Also, most of the ones I ever seen are more than bit on the ugly side with the grey plastic fenders and quarter panels. IIRC, only the real high level trim ones got painted fenders like in your picture.

Those are mostly owned by old people (they’re so easy to get in and out of!) and 30-something schoolteachers that have dogs.

I just made the same exact comment without seeing this one first!

Too big for my tastes. But I really, really tried to convince my brother to buy one when he was looking for a used car (he ended up going for a RAV4).

I thought about it and got a taco instead. The gear shift is oddly placed, the blind spots are huge, and stiff ass clutch.

One of my all time best friends had one. She loved it. She died, and I think of her whenever I see one.

I kind of want one. Small lift, offroadish tires. I have a weird fetish for the silver ones with navy plastic.

I learned if you take out the rear seats(which are meant to come out easy) it has more interior room than a suburban with the seats folded down(doesn’t come out as easy)
![]() 01/23/2019 at 22:16 |

The front seats aren’t very comfortable, and the windscreen is too far away from the driver (the dash is too deep).
That’s why I don’t have an Elemizzle.

I remember that sitting in one at the auto show years ago. Massive headroom but terrible legroom especially on the passenger side. I seem to remember the seats weren’t great either and they were to expensive for me.

I owned one for a few months, I loved it and wish I still had it. Same with my Ridgeline. I would give up my car easily to get another of either, but the Land Cruiser I also have is just better than either in just about every way. I do miss the bed of my Ridgeline and the flooring in the Element.

my ex had an automatic one, and I whipped it around a few times.
thing has do much body roll it felt as if it could tip over.

They drive like a top heavy underpowered less fun base model Civic. Also you sit in like the middle of it... everything is weirdly out of reach from the pedals to all of the windows.

Not sure what you drove. The oddly placed gear shift is actually ergo perfect. It had the easiest clutch of any car I’ve driven?? Stiff?? Wtf?

Hmmm

Test drove an 05 and an 07. I am guessing you are on the shorter side? The shelf shifter is a reach if you have long arms and legs. It just didn’t feel right
