Ford Explorer Sport AllTrac ADRENALIN
I was behind this quite some time feeling perplexed. Too narrow to be a stepside F150. Too “tall” to be a Ranger. T he factory-looking cladding was throwing me off. Finally got close enough to see the badge.
From what I can tell, this is the Explorer Sport AllTrac, what the XRunner is to the Tacoma. A sporty-ish “truck.” What I think I seent was:
- body-colored sport skirt
- big wheels
- showcased exhaust tips
- fake vents on the fender
Anyway... Neat dot gif.

Yeah go check out today’s NPOCP – it’s this exact same truck right down to the color.
I do have a strange soft spot for these Sport Tracs…it’s a smallish crew cab truck, pretty perfect for someone like myself who doesn’t really need a truck but would like to have the versatility for random house stuff, hauling small furniture, dirty camping gear, etc. every now and then that can do regular DD duty the rest of the time .
However they do sell for a bit of a premium and have a bit of a cult following apparently . The one in the NPOCP was going for $12.5k – which feels like a lot for a small truck that isn’t very good on gas and has a 10+ year old Ford interior. Lots of folks seemed to be asking why not buy a Tacoma instead for the same money, which I suppose is a reasonable question. It’s better looking and more unique I’ll say, is one reason.

I am ashamed to say, this is one of the first cars I remember loving as a kid.

Former roommate's fiance had one. I give it a big "meh".
