Guy on the Miata forums put this together. Progressive twin turbo, in a setup Borg-warner envisioned for diesel applications. Fully custom.... Pretty much everything. Imagine AvE getting into the car world and you'd have this guy.

I like this guy, but he does make me feel lazy for putting off replacing a cv j oint for so many months.

This man is crazy. In a good way.

I’m tired, but when you say progressive, do you mean sequential?

I had a pair of locking pliers on my battery terminal for 8 months because I was too lazy to replace a cracked ring terminal. And then there's this guy...

That’s what I would have guessed , but I’m using the terminology that the builder used

Yeah, I see a couple other ways of implementing a twin. Perhaps the progressive is a variable implementation of the second turbo rather than a set psi/ rpm for sequential and as the name implies, more linear torque delivery.

So sequential is when  there’s a tiny turbo that spools up first and then feeds a big turbo, right? What’s progressive?

Oh, btw, I’ve been meaning to aks you:

I’m completely free to travel for at least a month now (before I get another dog), and I have a few other friends in Seattle to visit anyways, so  I would love to tag along with you in your Miata and go out on some snowy forest roads. Is there a weekend between now and late Feb where we could do that?

I dunno, only speculation. I’ve been out of the loop for so long on so much. I remember when Nissan’s ecu’s were being reverse engineered and the head guy at a big aftermarket company asked me what they were doing and I laid it out verbatim for what the company was doing. He later told me I was 100% spot on.

I’ve been out of the car world  for so long professionally and am slowly reintegrating myself into it.  It'll be fun.

Right? He’s inspired me to at least go ahead and order the new cv joint.

Not exactly. I think It’s a compound turbo setup. The smaller turbo directly feeds the larger turbo. But they also have a diverter valve, so maybe it’s a sequential setup. I'd have to read it more than my quick browsing

Here’s a great picture of a compound (progressive) turbo setup. It’s not the same as a sequential setup and the common term is compound. I think this is what they are doing but im not sure. The supra crowd has been doing it for years

Do you think this reply is fair?
