Not a single millennial aged or younger employee where I work can drive stick... heck, a significant portion don’t even have a drivers license. My boss simply hates to drive. Lots of folks simply prefer to be ferried about by machines or somebody else. The stick is dead - but I’m going to drive them for as long as I can anyways...

I was being sarcastic. The DCT is faster and and is equally engaging in it’s  own way . Lightning fast shifts are hilarious. Manuals are dying because they can’t keep up with the power of modern cars.

Manuals can certainly handle the power of modern cars, especially since DCTs ARE manuals. The DSG uses the same gears as my manual in the TDI, but the clutch is obviously different and there’s a valve body for the shift linkage.

But if people won’t buy manuals there’s no point in making them.

Ok... maybe when I get really old, the first autobox I buy  will be an M2.  Those super fast shifts are cool, (but maybe not quite as fast as the GTI unit?  They don’t sound quite a quick...)

Just make sure you get a TCU tune, it is what allows them to hold  more power.
