This is the only contribution I’ll be making to it.
2009 vs. 2019
Fresh out of high school in 2009, I drove a ‘99 Pontiac Grand Am GT1 coupe.
Now, as a 29-year-old dad of a 2-year-old boy, I drive a “dad car” - a 2016 Mazda6 i Touring.
How about you guys and gals?

I know the struggle of the Dad car. I would not have bought a sedan if i could have avoided it.

I wanted a 6, and I had to have room for a car seat, so it worked out. I honestly would’ve bought the 6 wagon if they sold it here.

There is about a $2,000 difference between the ‘06 Rio’s price when it was bought new and the current trade-in value of the ‘12 XF. I think that’s neat!

I didn’t really get into owning vehicles until later in life, so the comparison isn’t quite accurate. But I went from driving this:
To this:
It’s arguable whether I went forward or back, but I think I like my herd a lot more. Although my parents got great value out of that Impala with pretty awesome reliability despite the reputation online, and only got rid of it at over 235,000 miles when my sister wrote it off five or six years ago. I still think it’s a good looking car, I just don’t know really have a place in my life for a big FWD sedan. Sometimes I wonder whether or not my parents would still be driving it if it hadn’t taken an Uplander to the driver’s door. They never did directly replace it, just took the insurance check and started miling out their pair of ’80s GM travel vans.
