A speedometer

3 different sets of wheels

A set of luggage

An intake manifold with a carburetor

A fuel injection system

An actual trailer (45' long)

And so many exciting cars like this 1990 Honda Accord EX automatic:

For the Honda I was gonna guess it was some ultra-low mileage example (like less than 10k miles) but nope. 137k is not bad for the year, but there’s nothing BaT-worthy about that car.

Which also has me wondering why the bidding is already over $5k for a 30y/o Accord.

I’ll be honest - I kinda like this, because the site isn’t being flooded with 911s and M5's like usual. There’s some actual project cars, and more interesting old cars than there usually is - this stuff is more fun to me than yet another 996 Turbo ( be warned that the quality of work on the Nova is pretty ugly) :

Prices dropped and auctions not meeting reserve went waaaay up after September. On of the many reasons that I decided that it was time to pull the trigger on an 02.

It’s the combination of two things - yes, the market is softening, but also I think January is a pretty dead period. And whatever action there is in January is in Kissimmee (Mecum) or Scottsdale (Barrett-Jackson).

I’m licking my chops at the thought of prices falling a bit - the RNM is because sellers are behind that curve, IMHO.

Damn, they have 191 auctions going. They’ve really taken off. Pretty impressive money printing machine from a simple blog.

I worked at a Honda dealer in 91-92, so I’ve seen a billion of these things. It’s well kept and has great records, but there’s nothing exciting about it.

I’d be a little more jazzed if it was a manual - I always thought the EX manual was a sweet combination.

arnt like 90% of the cars on there over priced and low mileage that dont even come close to needing a trailer?  Half of them may need a trailer just to prevent additional miles being added to the odometer, not for its mechanical ability.

I have been keeping track of 02 prices via spreadsheet (and 997 prices) like a nerd for a couple of years . For BaT I think that i t’s mostly the time of year , but there also does seem to be a strong connection to the stock market.

Everyone pays attention to the trailer queens that show up on BaT, but they’re nowhere near 90% of the volume (they’re 90% of the attention BaT gets though) . Right now, there isn’t many of those on there at all, since it’s January (and I also think the market is slowing).

See my reply to Long-Voyager, there’s some true project cars on there, and probably 20 cars that will cross six figures easily.

Nice! I have been much less scientific, mostly because I’m looking at too many different cars to really track.

BaT is short right now on the high-end cars, and that’s just a seasonal thing, I think.

Definitely. If you go back and look there were more cars and they were selling for top dollar over the summer

I mean you can’t drive any of those items home without putting them in your vehicle or carrying them. Certainly better fit for the title than most of the cars listed. To me, I thought the site sold only junkers/projects since you would need a trailer because there’s no hope in getting the car to run when you show up. Meanwhile they actually mean “ this car is so nice that you better not drive it so bring a trailer to pick it up and make sure it’s not an open trailer!”. But in general everything has become normal but somewhat rare cars sold for overpriced amounts.

I was just being snarky because those items all can fit in the trunk or back seat.

The site started as a blog and was kind of consolidating listings people recommended (NPoCP style) and discussing them - initially much of it really was junkers/projects, not trailer queens. That said they *do* still list cars like that - see below:

Exciting, no, but I love that accord. I always liked that generation the best. I saw a decent example the other day, and that’s here in salty New England.

They’re great cars - I worked at a Honda dealer during this generation, and while the previous gen (86-89) is my favorite, this one is my 2nd favorite - especially the pre-facelift 90-91 cars.  All you really have to do is keep the rust away and do basic maintenance, and they’ll run a long time.

The Nova is not so much.  Someone already suggested that the car be taken apart and shipped in boxes for proper repairs.

My first car was an ‘85 Accord 4cyl/5-speed and I loved it because first car. That car convinced me that Hondas are good cars, because my sister couldn’t kill it and I couldn’t either. My next car was a ‘90 Civic and then a ‘96 Accord.

My mom had an ‘88 LXi coupe (auto) for a long time - it treated her very well.

The ‘83-93 Accords and Civics had just a couple of pretty minor things (distributor/ignition related mostly) that would go wrong with them, besides rust, if well maintained.   Even those things didn’t happen often.

Sold for $7200. I’ve never seen one of those before, just heard about them.  Any idea what it will fit besides the Boss 302 engine?  Windsor block, Cleveland heads...

The Rochester FI unit is at $4800, with 4 days left - that’s pretty cool, too - although a bit more common.

I think that’s the ticket the boss block was a 4 bolt main tall deck block with 351 heads before the 351 was out. I assume it could work on any 302 with 351 style heads.
