"KingT- 60% of the time, it works every time" (kngt)

Take the Impala. It’s spacious comfortable decent interior in the top trims. Add the 5.3 V8 355 horsepower (250 kW) and 383 lb.-ft. of torque (519 Nm). Add torque vetoring AWD that is used in Buicks. Darken out the chrome . Nice limited production sleeper for $40,000 that at most 16 people in the total US would buy and it will end up being an utter failure. The last hurrah for Chevy sedans; But I like the idea of a 2019 v8 Impala SS.

Let’s settle at 11. 7 of those would be GM employees.

Probably can’t fit it into a FWD package with any existing transmission. Sorry for the partypoop

How about bring back the Chevy SS with the cheaper 5.3 + AWD then? One can dream...

spacious comfortable decent interior
Where?
It’s decent, haven’t rode in one to know about comfortable, but spacious they are not. A car this large should have a lot more interior space than this does, it’s more cramped than my Acclaim.
I follow the rest of your thinking though. ;)

Of course. That is what inspired this post somewhat.

It’s been done, in the last I
mpala. It did have a slightly skinnier pulley setup on it but that’s nothing that couldn’t be done again.

Sounds like the Chevy version of this:
Which isn’t a bad car, just didn’t sell very well.
Sedans are a difficult market right now, especially full sized. T hey’re about as big on the road as a midsized crossover, but with a much smaller and more difficult to use cargo area.
Ford has proven a couple of times that you can’t just take an existing FWD sedan platform and add a bigger engine and AWD and expect the performance car enthusiasts to love it. Even if it has a name from a semi-legendary model.
But here’s something that is rarely done: Make two versions of the large performance sedan, the normal hot sedan, and the hardcore street racer. The hard core model will get all the press, make some impressive comparisons in magazines, get people talking about how crazy it is, and the hot sedan will sell more because it’s more comfortable and more affordable and still fun to drive. Just like the WRX and STI, or the CTS and CTS-V, or the Challenger and the Hellcat.
