At least it's slightly more practical than comparing top speed, which is a very meaningless statistic for cars that get driven on roads with speed limits. If the top speed is anything over 85 MPH or so, that's good enough.

Having driven a lot of the newer offerings from both companys, I’m guessing the BMW will be better in the other handling aspects as well

I look at Car& Driver’s these numbers more closely than 0-60 because it closely applies to real word situations

Counterpoint: Out of all the standardized performance tests, it’s the one that’s the most relevant to a normal driver.
Only a small minority of drivers will attempt to corner at high speed, or go through a slalom, or try to reach top speed, but most of them will hit the gas when the light goes green.
Ok, maybe braking distance would be applicable too, but I get the feeling that’s more of a panic situation, not an “enjoying the drive” situation.

I think the nose of the Supra is ugly, but I think the nose of the BMW is even worse.

I wonder if part of the agreement was that the BMW would be faster out of the box. I read that even the suspension tuning for both cars was handled by BMW (but to Toyota’s specs for the Supra). Honestly, it’s a Toyota in name only...

Which is good for both brands bottom line.
The Supra isn’t going to sell very well at all, but at least Toyota does not have to foot the entire bill for R&D and tooling. But BMW will come out smelling like a rose since they would have made a new Z4 regardless.

I hope you’re wrong, but you’re probably right, unfortunately.
I’d love to see these siblings both sell very well.
Definitely smart for Toyota to use Subaru and now BMW for projects like these (they also have a joint venture with Mazda, and another deal with Suzuki ).
Not sure if the Z4 was a sure thing (and the next generation is definitely in question).

They clearly stopped production in 2017 (or late 2016), but they were still clearing out inventory last year.
