Is it becoming a wreck?
I mean some of the cars are pretty good. But the brand lacks substance and personality lately. They are moving more towards brands like Buick or Acura than towards brands like Lexus, Audi or BMW. They seem lost, lacking focus and precision.

All luxury cars are the same now anyways. It's no big travesty if we lose a brand.

It’s not becoming a wreck. It is already a wreck.
The Q50 is a dud ruined by that infotainment system, terrible DAS steer by wire and still not good as competitors automatics,Q60 looks good but has same problems as a Q60. I’d rather take a Kia Stinger GT instead of a Q50 red sport400.
Q70 is old AF hardly updated since like 2013, but good reliable powerful (330HP/420HP)midsize sedan. Only vehicle in their lineup I would consider
The Qx30 is a depressing dud, competition in that space is MUCH better. The new Qx50 is Okay, middle of pack, some new innovations but again the competition is VERY strong in this segment. They still seem to sell a lot of the Qx60 which I guess is decent a Highlander alternative- again hardly updated but seems to hold well on its own. You can buy a used Land Cruiser or a lexus LX instead of the Qx80
No hybrids, no electrics, the so called “sportiest” Red sport 400 versions of the Q50/60 are not good enough to take on the Germans.
I posted this sometime back:

This coming from a current G37 owner and I have driven or at least sat in almost all their current products. Honestly I am rooting for Genesis now to become what Infiniti was in the mid 2000s

Tbh the only successful vehicle they’ve ever made is the original G35, including it’s derivatives.

My old Infiniti (2016 Q50) sure felt like just a fully loaded Nissan. It was also disappointing in a few ways that would be a let down to any owner:
Random squeaks and rattles at 8k miles
Pa infully weak AC
Proximity key and remote start were finicky
One seat belt was installed upside down somehow
Tires on the standard model lasted under 15k miles (215 all season run flats)
I turned me off of Nissan/Infiniti for a while.
You’re right about moving towards Buick and Acura. Their cars are largely just rebadged Nissans (q50 and q70 excludes in US market) and they don’t offer quite the same level of luxury or attention to detail as some of the others.
Onot reason I got mine was because it was a 6 month old preowned that had taken over 40% in depreciation and the engine was one tune away from over 400whp. Too bad the brakes a nd chassis couldn't keep up.

It’s already a wreck, mainly because they lost their way .
Look at their lineup from 2004:
-A g ood-looking c ompact sports sedan/coupe with the big engine in every model, great steering feel and a great chassis
-A c utting-edge t ech-laden V8 full-size sedan with many industry firsts
-A g loriously weird Yakuza-spec Japanese full-size muscle sedan
-A d esirable, w ild-looking fast crossover with a bright orange interior
-Huge, reliable luxury SUV with tons of towing capacity that’s a relentless assault on taste
Now what do we have?
-A limp-wris ted entry-level luxury sedan and coupe that finally has the engine it deserves but only on the top trim
-A really outdated midsize/LWB midsize luxury sedan
-A weird rebadged sub compact luxury crossover that nobody buys
-A decent compact luxury crossover
-A Pathfinder with a fancy grille
-A huge, reliable luxury SUV with tons of towing capacity that’s still a relentless assault on taste
From “neat” to “meh” in 15 years.

I drove a Q60 AWD from Denver to LA after new years and at first I thought it was Meh. But by hour 2, I actively disliked it. For the 40 or whatever grand that thing cost, I can think of endless cars you should buy instead. In fact, I think an Ecoboost Mustang with the premium package is better in every single way. If you need AWD in your “sporty” coupe, maybe get the AWD challenger.

They’ve definitely gone downhill enough that I firmly lump them in the Acura camp now, despite actually offering a few RWD (or RWD-biased AWD) vehicles.

Infiniti are a wreck 100%
they sell very few here compared to Lexus, mind you Infiniti relaunched in 2012 after 15 years out of the market.
