Update 2: I’ve been observing a teammate use a trackball thingy. So I decided to buy one and see if I can work with it. Its a Logitech M570 which I got from best buy for $30ish. I like it! My brain is able to comprehend how to use the trackball without utterly messing up everything. Its so comfy to use :)
Update: I got a vertical Anker (ty Tchalla!) which I used for about a week. While it IS nice, I couldn’t move it uuum fast enough (just me being inept I guess). I said fuck it and spent $55 for the Razer. So I have two of these now:
Oppo suggest me a comfortable mouse to use at my work desk. I spend most days in front of a screen.
I used my Razer Deathadder (pictured above) for a while but the keys are too hard for work and I don’t want to spend 50 bucks to get another one.
The new mouse should cost less than $25 and be a full size one (like the adder). I would prefer to have side buttons but its not really necessary.
Yellowbird for your time.

I was going to suggest the Logitech G602 because it’s pretty great but it doesn’t fit the budget. I also have a generic gaming mouse from Amazon that works pretty well for $15

I highly recommend a vertical mouse. Easier on your wrist especially if you’re on your computer all day. I switched a year back and I will never go back to a regular mouse

I split my time between a Logitech M510 (typically when sitting) and a Anker 98ANWV M-BA (typically when standing). Only downfall to the Anker is that it is wired.

I tried a trackball, didn’t like it returned it and got this instead. You don’t realize how much your wrist and forearm is twisted until you start using a vertical mouse.

this cheap one, probs not good. It’s a little less responsive, but helps with preventing issues. I’d say a better one that’s at less of a vertical angle (plus additional buttons) would be really nice.

I only find that the trackball is nicer because it has this padded extension on the back, and I have massive hands. Mice are very hard for me, as well. Even the vertical one needs to be just a bit larger.

You can always try one for a few weeks and return it if it doesn’t work out. I did the same, ordered a bunch of different types including a trackball to see which works out.

I use a Logitech M705, it’s big enough and does have some extra buttons if you want.
My favorite part is the center scroll wheel, though: it can either have “notches” like most similar ones do, where each click of the wheel moves x number of lines on the screen, or it can freewheel, much like flicking up on a touchpad. For scrolling up and down large pages, etc. it’s priceless. You can switch the scroll mode with a button on top. I use it for hours at a time, not every day, but I still like it better than any other mouse I’ve had.
It also comes up a lot if you read “Top 5 / Top 10 Mice” articles. It’s not expensive, and just works well.

Don’t forget, you get what you pay for. My daily-use mouse is a L ogitech Performance MX , but my previous mouse was a Logitech M-705 . The 705 doesn’t have as many buttons and isn’t a darkfield mouse (works on glass!), but it served me well for several years. I finally wore out the left mouse button.
The Performance MX gets you more buttons, a faster response, a better laser, and rechargeability. Both of these fit my hand well where some of the other Logitech mice are too small for comfort.
I suggest a trip to your favorite computer store to put your hand on a bunch of mice to see which is most comfortable. After all, you’ll be caressing it for hours every day.

I recently splurged for myself on a Logitech MX Master 2. It doesn’t meet your budget, but I got it on sale for $70 a few months ago. Haven’t seen a price like that since. It’s a joy to use. It’s bluetooth and recharge able, and can remember three different bluetooth connections for bonus points (use at work and at home)

5 years ago I
got a R.A.T. 7
for the same reason, I use it every day for work, so I figured an adjustable one would be a huge help.
Problem is, it was $100 brand new, and old stock now is $150, while the new models either don’t match the same features or are just not available. I know this because my middle click is giving up, and I’m looking for a cheaper replacement.
I ended up ordering the
Roccat Kova
(Haven’t got it yet) and taking a chance on a non-adjustable mouse. The
G.SKILL RIPJAWS
and the
AJAZZ GTX
were also high on my list of options thanks to the adjustable palm rest. Granted, those are all a bit more expensive than your $25 limit, but they’re in the ballpark.
I suppose I can always try to repair my R.A.T. 7 if I don’t like the Roccat... but it’s starting to show it’s wear in other areas too.

“But like I said I dont need side buttons or bluetooth/wireless...”
You didn’t say that. Here’s what you wrote:
“The new mouse should cost less than $25 and be a full size one (like the adder). I would prefer to have side buttons but its not really necessary.”
The M-705 has only a couple of extra thumb buttons, is super-comfortable, and is just $3 more than your max budget. Once you go wireless, you’ll never go back. Really, it makes that much of a difference.
A mouse is
something you will be handling every day for
hours
on end. It pays to get the best thing you can afford. You’ve already spent more on tires and a sway bar for a car you drive only
a couple of hours a day, right? You
have probably spent more than $30 on a single meal.
Again, you get what you pay for. I’ll admit that I’m a bit of a Logitech fan, but that’s for a good reason. I use a computer for at least 8 hours a day, every day, usually more. The Logitech mice last longer, track better, and are more comfortable in my hand than any other brand I’ve tried. You can get a corded mouse for $10, but using a cheapie is like buying a cheap set of Nankang for your mini. You might as well go down to Autozone and grab a nice steering wheel cover while you’re at it.

I wasn’t aware of the issues with the updated M-705. I’ve been using the Performance MX for years.
Keep in mind that it’s fanboys providing the reviews.
Personally, I would spend a lot more on a new mouse given how much I use them. I get at least three years out of a mouse, so that works out to be $20/year for the MX.

I finally fixed the problems I was having with my Razer Naga. It started with a can of dust remover spray and ended with a hammer smashing that frustrating PoS to bits. I grew tired of the software, the totally incompetent tech support, etc., and finally made sure I would never attempt to use it again. I found a Logitech G600 on CL for $15 and it takes care of every complaint I had about the Razer. This is all for the secondary computer, at least for now. On the primary system, attached to the KVM switch(es), is the same old Kensington Expert Mouse trackball I’ve been using for nearly 20 years now, complete with a genuine 8 ball from a billiards supply store replacing the stock ball. Sure, there isn’t any official software support from Kensington for systems made in the last century, but it works well and feels nice. I keep a few old ones for parts as I haven’t found anything suitable to replace this thing.

It was essentially junk when I bought it (used) for next to nothing, so it’s no big loss; I just wanted to make sure that I never thought again that maybe, with a little more effort, I could turn this into something that actually works - destroying it with a hammer ensures that this never happens and gets out a little frustration at the same time . It started to develop the infamous multi-click problem, and despite getting it working properly for a week or two at a time, I found that design and engineering of this product to be substandard, with more flash than substance . T ech support was useless and incompetent, not aware of how their own products worked and what parts came with it as standard to customize the fit, for example . The rubber coating was peeling off (just like on the keyboard) and the stupid braided sleeve on the cord was disintegrating and bunching up in places. The absolute worst part was the software that had to be run to set it up and make the buttons operational; the Logi keeps the programming internal on the mouse itself and doesn’t require an internet connection to make a damn mouse work for more than the incredibly basic functions. They took a simple function and made it needlessly complex, and makes me question what else the software is doing behind the scenes. It’s a mouse fer chrissakes, and shouldn’t be raising these kinds of questions.
Razer stuff looks pretty and pushes the right buttons (no pun intended) with fancy specs and appearance, but it’s not going to last, and heaven help you if you ever need technical support on something more advanced than what your eight year old nephew could figure out. The construction and design didn’t correlate to the premium price, especially the big chunk of metal screwed to the top to give it additional heft and therefore the feel of being a higher -quality product. There are better choices out there from a longevity and ergonomic standpoint (after all, I am still using an IBM model M and a 1999-vintage Kensington trackball) , and I personally will not pay retail for something that looks pretty but isn’t going to last very long.

I use mine on a Mac and the thumb button lets me swap between desktop windows. So I use it constantly. It could be programmed to do the same on windows. As for the thumb scroll I basically never use it but occasionally it comes in handy for horizontal scrolling in excel or sheets.

I just picked up this one. ELECOM M-HT1DBRK (wireless, although there is a wired version)
almost all of the packaging is in japanese, and the HUGE name is apt... it is very large.
The palm rest is cushioned, but the big thing is, the scroll wheel is at your thumb, and the track ball is at your index and middle finger, for more intuitive pointing.
I have only briefly tried a thumb-operated trackball, but it seems like it would be hard to get the fine dexterity or speed with a thumb-operated trackball, compared to a mouse, or an index finger trackball.
I am starting to feel some issues in my forearm from years of IT work at a computer with mice and trackpads. I am hoping a more ergonomically stable trackball will help keep issues minimized.
I just received it, so haven’t had a lot of time to test it and evaluate it yet.
