Decided to swap all the old bulbs with new LED lights. These things are a LOT brighter.

Getting the cluster out was a lot easier said than done. The connections are made from pretty brittle plastics and dont want to be disconnected easily. The biggest PITA was the speedo cable though, this thing was the bane of my existance for a little while.

I finally got everything pulled together just to find out that my dimmer switch is acting a but funky but I guess I can just mend that too.

Your dimmer switch may be acting funky BECAUSE of the LEDs FYI. LED buls require far less power than normal bulbs, so the rheostats on dimmer switches act odd. Do you find you can nudge the dimmer up BARELY from fully ‘dim’ and that the LEDs go to full brightness and the rest of the dimmer adjustment does nothing?

Dimmer switch wasnt working properly even with the old bulbs. I don’t really care about the dimming ability I just want to be able to turn the illumination lights on and off. The switch is original and I am pretty sure the contact for the dimming is slightly corroded or needs to be replaced entirely. I probably will have a look at it tomorrow and know for sure then. On the plus side the dimmer switch is SO much easier to access.
