As soon as I heard “oil change place” — I knew.
- Filter was hulk tight.
- Oil pan plug was stripped both on the bolt head and the threads were cross-threaded at some point in their life.
- The pan had some leaks, but the major leak was coming from the break in the casting there
- The bottom of this engine has both studs protruding from the bottom of the block and standard bolts. Two of the studs were sheered clean off (from over torquing, I’d imagine). I get to extract those tomorrow.

I am in Western Washington. This isnt a rust problem area. This customer is just notoriously bad at keeping their vehicle maintained. Last time the wheels and tires were off at our shop was almost 4 years ago and they are consistently 4-5k overdue for LOF’s.

What brought it to light was the shift (2nd) that usually does the exterior body stuff on our train rebuilds came in the next day to sand on it a little to prep it for the top coat. He took a sander to it and no sanding dust came off of it, instead it just started clumping up under the sander. Found out that the guy in charge of mixing the paint mixed it 3:1 (paint:hardener) instead of 1:1 which what it was supposed to be.

This week, JRitS received a special treat in the form of the backstory behind this classic pic. Click the link below to check it out.
My uncle owned a shop and a guy abandoned his car in front of a door for a few days. My uncle let it slide until he got tired of working around it...

...some old dude tried to rebuild it. The last one this happened to was a Honda, and they didn’t even use a woodruff key. They used a 1” air impact to ram it on.

...my guess is the lack of battery hold-down made the negative post rub on that terminal in the lid that’s melted, and then the lack of fuse became a small issue.

Sorry about the potato quality photo, but this is from Ireland and we did have problems with our potatoes in recent history.
...I know you guys have lots of specific questions, but the photo is old as fuck. The only thing I remember from it at the time was that the slider where the handbrake was, was throttle I think. Not sure which one was the ejector seat.
