I’m a little bored so thought I’d check out some Fords.
If I could have large garage and had to be Ford only.
Ford Fiesta Vignale, 1.0 Ecoboost 123bhp .
Ford Focus ST-Line estate,
Ford S-Max ST-Line, 2.0TDCi manual,
Ford Ranger M-Sport, 3.2TDCi manual, 198b hp.
Ford Transit Custom
That just about covers me for any eventuality from city hopper to tourer to moving people and items.

In the 3 areas I have lived, I would have....
U S: Raptor Supercrew & Mustang GT350R.
UK: Mondeo Estate & Focus RS.
Philippines: Ranger Wildtrak and a Focus S 1.5

Definitely don’t want or need ever a Mustang.
While the RS is nice and fast, etc... I don’t want really fast, I don’t do really fast. If I wanted really fast I can get an M-Sport Ford Fiesta from down the road from me in Cockermouth.
Like this Edition 2.
or an R5 Evo 2

I’m thinking I’d like to have the upcoming rwd-based Ford Explorer, and honestly, I’d be happy to keep my 2010 Taurus SHO and then I’d maybe add a Mustang as a track car. Or if I had a lot of money, a Ford GT, I’d buy that one John Cena bought, just to show him what it looks like to actually appreciate a GT. Finally, if we have even more money, I wouldn’t mind a Ranger or F-150 to pair with my purchase of an Airstream.

Both the Focus and Mondeo are ‘ST-Line’, which means performance look but standard power.
They may still do a Focus ST estate like the out going Focus estate.

When it came down to spending my actual money on a car 8 months ago I had a very hard choice between the Tacoma I ended up buying and a CPO RS. If I could’ve had both a capable mid-size pickup and a fast hatch that would’ve been perfect. And while we’re in dream land of course I’m going to have the Raptor.

It wasn’t just the power. Everything about it just felt better.
Also I wasn’t very familiar with the M-Sport Fiesta so I looked it up. It does sound like a nice package but 215 hp and 235 ft-lbs of torque in a FWD platform with a Quaife still ain’t 350 hp and 350 ft-lbs in a sophisticated AWD platform.

The bespoke trim for this spec does improve the appearance a lot. The missus is thinking about replacing her 107 soon, so far the current gen Mégane is her favourite but she changes her mind a lot. This may end up on the shortlist at some point. I'm a cheap skate and plan to run the Twingo until it wears out, so it won't be me buying anything haha.

It’s pretty stiff for stock, it didn’t feel much worse than a FiST or FoST to me and I’d imagine a lowered Fiesta like the one pictured would be worse. Take what journalists have to say about ride quality with a grain of salt until you’ve tried it. I’ve read the ride my Tacoma isn’t very good but it feels fine to me. Although where I live in the Pacific Northwest we have pretty good road quality.

I just looked up the dimensions, basically identical to my Tacoma. Also, at least w ith the Tacoma the two door is only available with the long bed so they’re the exact same size as a short- bed four-door, you’re just deciding between people/cabin space and bed space.
Svend

09/27/2018 at 17:51 | 0 |
Yes, but there are many roads I wouldn’t be able to take it down. Where ever I live, I’ve still got to be able to drive it and could do without the stress of having to nav igate narrow roads, rural roads with on coming cars, etc...

One day I’d love to buy a tidy RS Gordini to keep forever. The colour scheme isn’t for everyone but it works for me. The only complaints I have with mine are, not enough power, slightly dull interior and no AC. This solves all of those.
