Antenna Topper or Shorty Antenna?

I ordered a super stubby antenna for the Miata (1.5" short) . I am a Sat radio person and FM reception is irrelevant for me. However, now that I’m thinking about it, am I missing out on an opportunity to have a ridiculous antenna topper? Would a topper work on a one and half inch antenna?

So I come to you today oppo with a very important question, stubby antenna or sweet antenna topper or BOTH?!

If you are pro topper, I’m open to suggestions on which one as well.

eBay shows the hotdog ones in the teens of dollars to $20+ and I’m not in it for that. It’s bound to get stolen and I’d rather see 75 cents down the drain than $15.

Years ago when I was a kid I made a little paperclip man that I hung on the antenna of Dad’s car (near the bottom so it’s not a topper) . When he got rid of the car I made sure to take it off and transfer it to my truck. It’s made out of those coated paper clips so it has some color to it and it will last a long time (it has to be 15 or so years since I’ve made it). I built it with almost a super man pose, and there is a loop that connects paper clip man to the antenna so he basically free floats. When I’m stopped it hangs straight up and down, but when I’m moving he’s horizontal and flying with his arms out. Every once in a while I forget he’s there until I look over and see him flying in the wind which always puts a smile on my face. It’s the little things in life....

Unfortunately I cant find a good picture of it.

it’s a bit ridiculous to me. Middle of my trunk is a shark fin, but instead of using that for AM/FM they put a legit old school whip antenna on the side
