Kinja'd!!!

A rare opportunity when my Volvo wasn’t parked adjacent, so snapped this pic of a very long truck taking up most of my available driveway length. Takes a lot of practice to back in with cars flanking both sides, given that the connecting alleyway is only about 9 feet wide.

Also despite four new matching tires, the front looks a lot meatier than the rear. *shrug* Maybe it’s because the rear has a couple extra inches of fender gap?

I saw a short bed 4x4 Tundra, it was very odd seeing such a large but short truck.

Thanks, only reason I’m thinking of selling is that she likes to drink...a lot

Yeah, a crew cab long bed of the same year has an extra foot and a half of length to it. Still pretty long for a city truck!

454s tend to do that.

Although modern gas 3/4 tons aren’t much better.

If you need towing power and economy you need a truck like mine. I average 16-18 mpg in mixed driving, 14-16 mpg towing/hauling, and low 20s on the highway.

Just givin ya shit.

That is a nice looking truck though, I don’t see many 90s body trucks around here that aren’t rotted.

I get around 10mpg towing :/

Not sure how much empty as I pretty much only drive it while towing, but I would guess maybe 12

Honestly, that’s better than guys around here with modern gas 3/4 tons.

They say 8 mpg loaded, 13 mpg empty. Unless you’re planning on going diesel, you won’t gain anything in reality.

I’d love to get a diesel, but I don’t really tow enough to justify the extra cost. And yea, the modern gassers don’t do much better so I figured why not just get an older big block for 1/2 the price.

When we come to the point of needing a truck again I plan to buy a 7.3L IDI Turbo, so.........

Was trying to find one before I found this truck and came close to buying one, but the dealer that had it must have paid way too much for because they ended up sending it to auction instead of selling it to me. Fun story about that...I took it for a test drive but it started out at $21k since it had less than 100k miles and was fairly clean. I watched the price drop over the course of a couple months down to $17 k...after a fair amount of back and forth over email I got them to agree to $16k. I went down fully intending to buy it, took it for PPI and immediately could tell something was wrong on the drive over, there was no power at all. The shop I took it to confirmed my suspicion that it was making no boost. I took it back to the dealer and told them I’d still take it as-is for $14k or for $16k if they fix it ...they balked and said they’d be sending it to auction.

The moment they start treating the roads with salt & brine, the truck stays parked for the winter. I start it up and run it for an hour once a month but don’t drive it when that shit is on the road, because I know it will get eaten alive.

I got the truck from North Carolina, so the undercarriage is very clean and rust-free along with the body. I’m hoping to keep it that way. And since it’s only 2wd anyway, there’s not much reason to drive it during winter.

I do plan on getting an Eaton TrueTrac diff put into it to help with traction on loose surfaces, though.
