The car for the man that says “I’ll just leave those shoulder belts tied up on the ceiling.”

You’re referring to the finger in only one pic and the others that show the plate?  I love that.  Could this car actually bring $20k?

I’m asking your last question too. I suppose if it’s a ‘71 with a decent engine choice it might be able to just get there but I don’t think this car with its automatic can. Then again,   I have no idea of where the market for the big Mustangs is at.

I look at a lot of old muscle cars, but not Fatstangs in particular (they’re really not my thing) . It’s got a less than ideal drivetrain, but I would *think* that if the body is all metal (who knows if it is from the ad) and this is a true Mach 1, that is in the right range.  If it’s full of bondo, then it’s a massive crack pipe.

Speaking as someone who vividly remembers those things, virtually *everyone* left those shoulder belts looped on the ceiling in the 70's and 80's.  And the odds are the lap belt never moved, either.

I really don’t know the market for these things, but it’s not flawless by admission of the owner and needs some stuff. So, I’d say that’s pretty steep for a mass produced ‘71 anything from Ford. But I asked because I’ m not in touch with such things.

It’s a quasi-muscle car. Not a real muscle car, but not just a plane jane Mustang, either.

For cars of that vintage and earlier, you can get close to 20k for almost anything that is a) a 2 door hardtop, AND b) has a V8; AND c) has a straight, metal body. It’s that last qualifier that most cars fail.

A quick perusal of Auto Trader classics shows a lot of similar cars (fastbacks, but nicer mostly) running $21-40k, but there are a couple in the $15-18k range too . 351/slushbox seems to be a common drivetrain, and the coupes are definitely cheaper than the fastbacks.

If I wanted this (I don’t), I’d go drive it, crawl around underneath it, go over it with a magnet, and maybe offer $15-16k and see where it goes.
