Now that the scouts allow girls to join, my oldest decided to join up with a couple of her friends (most of her friends are boys). I never did scouts, so it’s all new to me. Today I missed the Rallycross, because we have the rain gutter boat regatta this afternoon. Should be fun! :)
I assisted very minimally. I think it looks pretty dang good for a 5-year old’s work!
UPDATE: She was the only girl there, but dominated her age group, and came in 3rd overall! My kindergartner beat a 5th grader in her final race!
I really proud of her. It didn’t go flawlessly, her boat nosed into the water on a couple of runs, but she stayed cool and kept going. Everyone was super nice, it was a really great time. My daughter was delighted!

My wife signed my 8 year old twin boys up for cub scouts this week.
Similar boat as you though, never did it as a kid so I don’t have experience. I did think it was interesting that I had to remind my wife that girls are now welcome as well, which I’m all for. If both my girls weren’t so entrenched in tumbling and cheer I would push for them to sign up also.

My 5-year old is very much into the kind of scouts do. She’s about as far from a girly girl as one can get. She’s also been doing karate for almost a year now.
My 3-year old, she’s another story. We started her in tumbling a few weeks ago. She’s constantly doing rolls on the floor, and handstands on the couch.

I’ve got 2 of each, and they are all different. My oldest daughter definitely trends to tom-boy, but has really caught on to trampoline tumbling (which, I learned, is actually a thing....). With 4 kids though we limit the extra curricular stuff somewhat, there just isn’t enough time for them to do everything they want.

I was in (Canadian) Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Scouts. All were a great experience as a kid.

We're going to give Emma this year to do both karate and Scouts. Next year, she will have to pick one or the other.

Today was a really good day! She came in 3rd in the pack, and dominated her age group. It was a ton of fun.

T hat is awesome - I believe your kid gets 87 % of the oppo stars this evening. I am sure America’s Cup teams are looking for future talent. Can she fly a twin swing foil boat?

I imagine there's a few levels between where she's at now, and there :)

Nice! I loved Scouting when I was younger. Just wait until Pine Wood Derby season. It's the best part of Cub Scouts.

The orange paint. The blue paint was just kids craft paint, and it flaked of f of the white plastic. I sanded down the plastic to scuff it up, and Beth let Emma pick a nail po lish color to repaint it.
