According to AutoTrader, the average price for a Focus RS in the area is $68,645 CAD . I don’t care how sweet drift mode is, that’s insane. I don’t have any experience with the car, but is it worth the price?

That depends on whether you feel like you have to have it or not. If not, then no. You’d probably have the same amount of fun in a used Evo and get to keep half your money for mods.

I can’t speak for canada prices, but parts of the interior are still very much base focus plastics. That’s alot more palatable for the 20,000 us I paid for my ST. I feel like it would be a big letdown despite the performance.

Why not get a Golf R? It’s got a more “adult” interior at least.

Pricing ourselves out of the market is how we make america great again.

Ironically the RS has more head gasket issues.

No, it’s not worth it. Get an R. (I have both.)

dang, even with the Canadian exchange that is pricey...  Are STIs significantly cheaper up there?

It’s the same deal with the STi. It’s the fancy AWD tech you’re buying with these kinds of cars, not great interiors. Audi can hook you up with a good interior on top of the AWD tech if you bring them another $20-30k over an STi/RS.

Better save that other half of the money when your Evo blows up. Cherries are rare, but fine looking examples with internals ready to blow after years of abuse are too easy to find.

Good lord, a Golf R with all the trimmings and custom paint barely skims 50k of what you Canadians call “ dollars” . I love the Focus RS, but it’s not that great of a car.

I remember chomping at the bit to buy one, but the build quality and markups turned me off. Then I sat in one and was even more disappointed.

Just need maintenance records, really. They’re not hard cars to maintain but expensive (diff + transfer case + tra ns + engine oils changed frequently).

Meanwhile, the Golf R is cheaper than in the US there.

Seconding the R. I love my GTI which shares it's interior and tech with the R. The Golf/GTI is like the Porsche 911 in that it has simply evolved over the years.

So this is just canada prices then? That sucks.

How does that compare in price to the golf r and ct-r? I definitely think the car is worth the US MSRP (short version: The car is a hoot!) but that number sounds pretty high, even for MooseBucks.

No, it doesn’t.

Some engines got made with the wrong head gasket. That’s it. Free fix from Ford, and then it’s good to go.
