After only a few days, my tires have arrived! It was less than a week so I’m happy with that order for sure. I’m gonna wait a bit to install them just until there is a threat of rain in like a month or so. The current tires on the car still have a tiny bit of life in them so they will continue functioning for some commuting. Now I have a proper set of winter ready tires! They are a true “all weather” tire instead of your typical all season. Being in Socal I would absolutely melt a true winter tire since it doesn’t get cold enough to matter. And the drives to the mountains go through some hot and dry places as well. I intend on doing 5+ trips to Mammoth, a few day trips to bear mountain, and at least one road trip to Utah this winter. So I’ll get pretty good use out of them. I’ll be crossing over 150k soon on the car so finding mechanical issues and sorting them will be a greater concern. But everything has been quite solid thus far! AC is giving me trouble but I found the leaks and am working on fixing that now. No major issues otherwise.

These have a Treadwear rating of 500 and a date code of 6/18 so they should definitely last me a long time. I might still pick up another set to use in the summer if I get sick of not having canyon performance . But I can also just use the Miata for that instead.

Nice!  I didn’t even have to ask you about the build date.  I think I’m going to end up going with these for my STI.  While I live in the snowy hell of Buffalo, NY, I live and commute primarily in the city where roads a regularly plowed and pretty much coated in salt.  These should do much better through those occaisional warm snaps we get and I can put them on much earlier and much later in the season without sacrificing an insane amount of treadwear.  I had a set of used WRG3's on a Tahoe PPV that I had and they were pretty solid and got me through a couple of MI Winters with no issues.

Summer has come and gone and my winters are still nice and fresh despite the heat and abuse . No melting here

Although I gotta say, they’re absolutely terrifying in the rain. Orders of magnitude worse than any all-seasons or summer tires I’ve ever ran.

What are you running on the Miata?

You have probably ruined the winter ability of those tires lol. They could have plenty of tread but not enough for snow. And a Miata is lighter so it doesn’t ruin them as fast anyways. I just have my Dunlop star specs 2 on the Miata. They have made it through 3 track days and 10k miles. I'm doing another track day this weekend so they've held up well.

Yeah apparently the dates are in week/year instead of month/year so it’s actually like February instead of June when it says 0618 but that’s still pretty good. I’ll easily travel a good 50k miles before 4-5 years anyways so I’ll use them up before they age out. Little harder if i end up getting a summer tire to use on another set of wheels but I end up driving a lot anyways. Total cost came out to $581.90 and I still have to pay a shop to mount/balance them and check my alignment. Then next is roof rails and either a ski mount or a box. Box would be more useful for other stuff but costs a but more and looks like shit on a sedan.
