48? You mean V8? The V and 4 aren’t even CLOSE to each other on a keyboard.

And since when does ANYONE ON ANY CAR BLOG EVER not know what a HEMI looks like? CAUSE THAT’ S NOT A FUCKING HEMI.

Damn I hate the FP

So glad I’m Ballabanned into the greys there

And nitro cars run a 1000 feet not a 1/4 mile.

Heavy sigh

Wat? Does this person think that because 426<440, the 426 was the lower option, too??

Serious question though - is that a 6 pack in the picture?  Has to be multi-carb.

Also, I highly doubt the Hemi was more common than the 440.

“more common 426 cubic-inch 48”

There’s so much wrong here that I can’t begin to go into it.

And since when is the 426 more common than the 440? Don’t think that was ever the case...

yes, that is the 6-bbl air cleaner.

edit: and they’re both 440s. the 426 Wedge was gone by 1965.

it might have been more common in the Superbird and Charger Daytona.  But no way was it more common in the regular Roadrunner or Charger.

Wikipedia says it was only 135/1920 Superbirds, so a pretty small percentage even on that car (didn’t look at the Daytona, but I presume it’s similar).

OK, I thought that was the 440 six pack - which is a pretty nice engine option in and of itself.

Figured it was a 440, since that was the only other engine available in that car - and you can spot a Hemi from outer space.

I can see swapping 4 and V. I regu larly swap A and 1, and E  and 3. Not on purpose, of course, but my brain is dumb.

48? You mean V8? The V and 4 aren’t even CLOSE to each ot her on a keyboard.

believe it or not, I know a number of writers who actually use voice dictation software, then fix/tidy it up by hand later.  saves a lot of typing (and the risk of RSI.)  “48" (pronounced “four eight”) is a plausible voice recognition miss for “V8.”

You would be correct. 1,084 were built with 440 single, 716 with the 440 6-pack, and 93 or 135 (depending who you ask) with the 426 Hemi.

The article on TheDrive’s not much better.

This guy was the second owner of both cars and they had been sitting in storage since the 1980s with straight antifreeze in both 440-cubic-inch Hemi V-8 engines and something called M arvel Mystery lubricating oil in the cylinders to preserve the engines as they sat.

Means it’s a 4 -stroke V 8 .

As opposed to your standard run-of-the-mill 2- stroke V8s.

I posted an honest comment about sometimes misclicking on Jez instead of Jalop (which I do do from time to time) on one of Ballaban’s Azalea Bush v Elon Musk stories and he took it as an attack on GMG writers and banned me to the greys.

Ah yeah, they were probably thinking of the Detroit Diesel 8V92. Those are super common in consumer cars.
