...or has the El Camino design aged much more gracefully than it should have?
Spotted today at McD’s.

I think it really has come around. A few years ago I missed out on a ‘74 SS 454 Elco at an auction that went for a surprisingly cheap $900. Even the “Laguna” body style is starting to look good to my eyes.

That’s basically just a Chevelle Ute.
I prefer the '70 Ranchero.

Honestly, all of Bill Mitchell’s Shee r Look cars have held up very well. As opposed to Irv Rybicki’s rolling turds from 1985+.

Always found El Caminos to be pretty, But that’s my grandmother’s fault. Wrote extensively about it in my goodbye letter to her here on Oppo. I would love to have a well-kept El Camino as my DD one day.

I also like the Ranchero’s more, but that’s still a pretty nice El Camino specimen.

Really like the old two-tone paint jobs. Think I might go that way with my Rampage.

I’m a firm believer in contrast. I rant on a regular basis about Jeep’s irrational affection for color-matched hard tops.
I had a chance to give Mark Allen (head of Jeep design) an earful, but I picked a different fight. Regretting it now.

I’m not alone in my disdain of same coloured tops and fenders! Vindication!

Definitely not. The t wo-tone look can’t rescue everything, some vehicles are just too boring, but look at the FJ Cruiser vs the 4Runner. One was quirky and colorful, the other is a cure for insomnia.

A local radio station back home (91.3 The Summit) has one as a press/promo vehicle. I saw it a few times this summer- El Caminos look fantastic. I don’t think I’ve seen a bad looking Ute, come to think of it.
