What all you have done? I assume TPAs, and valve cover gaskets at the least.

Valve cover gaskets, oil change & alignment.

Still on original TPAs! [knocks wood]

Valve cover gaskets.

Got an oil change and alignment while it was in.

Move the decimal two places.

Valve cover gaskets (6 hrs labor) , oil change & alignment.

Holy crap, that valvetrain is clean for 120k mi. I would expect at least a little bit of gunk after that long, this looks brand new.

Sounds expensive.

Castrol 10W60 synthetic = liquid gold

Pricey though. $50 for 5 quarts of 5W-30 synthetic when I had my mechanic replace my cracked oil pan last week.

Yeah, heavy on the “gold”.

I see it as cheap insurance when you plan on keeping a car for the long haul.

6 hours labor for valve cover gasket replacement...

You mean unicorn blood.

At least for LL-01 I can sub with store bought 0W40.

Spending $1000 in maintenance on a car I’ve had for 6 years and 80k miles doesn’t really hurt that much. Loan was paid off in 2014...

It was a joke. Still a lot though for most cars, but seems pretty cheap for a beamer.

That’s what he quoted. Haven’t gotten the final bill yet to see if he did it in less time . Inline vs V8... and there’s a lot that has to come off before you can get to the valve covers.

Engines that run synthetic and more conservative oil change intervals over the long haul can still look beautiful inside at a lot more mileage than that.

OEM recommendation was 15k. I’ve done it around 10k, with confirmation with Blackstone reports that the oil was still healthy at that interval. As she gets older and I’m driving her less, I’ll probably change at 7.5k or once a year.
