The Washington Auto Show, 191 4. This one is dedicated to RamblinRover, who !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! yesterday that I didn’t provide enough of a challenge identifying old cars. Then he and fintail spent the rest of the day trying to figure out what car I posted. This shouldn’t be too hard, since you’ve got the year and you’ve got some helpful signs. Ramblin, I await your full report.

1914 :) Cool EVs at lower left and again at kind of middle right. The more things change!

Interesting pic for that every make visible was defunct by early in the depression. I spot the “King”, a brand Ramblin linked yesterday that I was not familiar with. I also spot Marmon, at the time, a high end maker.

Oooo. Cole is actually one of the brands I looked at pictures of yesterday. The two I enjoyed most learning about were probably Templar and King, which is one of those represented here . Which, HEY FINTAIL ONE OF THE KINGS IN THIS PICTURE HAS AN OVAL BADGE ON IT.

Actually, I really enjoy this because the identifiable cars are all already labeled by their block, and the ones in the distance, I can’t worry too much about because neither they nor their block signs are distinguishable.

I also was not aware of Pullman until just now.

Too bad the badge is the wrong direction :)

Interesting time for cars, as the brass era faded away and modern designs were born, one can see it in the Pullman where the cowl is now integrated with the hood.

My bad, I misread the sign alignment, was looking at one of the Chevrolets.

Pullman is apparently another of the vanishingly small brands with a continuous arch hood on some models , and has the curved doors that were driving us berserk yesterday.

This one doesn’t have an oval badge, but this one might:

Another reference here, looks like it was a slow transition between several different cowl shapes.

Photos of the various models are extremely sparse, but we might have just solved this one by accident.

Good s hape of the doors and radiator shell in the second pic. You might be on to something there.

Is that the same Pullman of the famed sleeper rail cars?

The steering linkage is also odd in being visible beneath the axle in some Pullman pics, IIRC, which would also match up. Weird steering linkage, oval badge, extremely odd cowl shape and cutout, and extremely unusual doors all give me maybe 80% confidence it’s a Pullman of some kind.

With it being a prestigious PA automaker and having an Indiana plate, I think it all pretty much adds up.

No, a casual (and not quite actionable) name ripoff thereof.

I think a lot of the details look right.  The original pictured car appears to be larger than the 4cyl model in the ad, but no doubt they had a range of sizes.
