Kinja'd!!!

I get out and about on the weekends with my oldest daughter and my bike. We have been enjoying the weather and cruising around town . Taking pictures while riding is difficult and when you have an energetic 6 yr old tagging along...there isn’t a lot of time for sight seeing.

Kinja'd!!!

I live in an antique town so it’s appropriate to ride an antique bike around. Hopefully you guys will enjoy a few pictures I took of my beautiful town, my super cool vintage bike and my little girl that loves to go exploring with her daddy.

Kids are the worst.

“There goes daddy again, taking ANOTHER picture of a CAR”

Haha! Arya, my daughter, is the absolute best buddy to have around. She loves to ride bikes. She’s all about finding big hills to coast down and go fast. She can spot Corvettes and Porsches and Jeeps (her favorite car is the Dodge Challenger) and she knows daddy likes to take pictures.  We have a lot of fun together.

Mine are at the tween-everythings-boring age that I just want to go out on my own, and can finally without worrying they’ll burn the house down.

I mean, who gave them the idea to try and make grilled cheese IN THE TOASTER?

Kids, man.

This is awesome. I just bought a bike so my son and I can go riding. He is getting a new one at the end of the month for his birthday too. We are going tomorrow and I haven’t been this excited about anything resembling exercise in a long time.

Made a rack for the El Camino so I can fit two bikes in it.

And my new bike. It’s blue.

It’s so much fun. Like “feel like a kid again” fun. It’s been a stress reliever and has been therapeutic . Maybe one day in the future I will get in to real road biking because I think the true exercise would do me a world of good. But putzing around town is good clean fun. We go to regular spots: she likes to do a few laps around the fountain downtown and I like to do big figure 8s in the library parking lot after hours because it’s a big open space that is flat. Sharing an activity with your kid is just so enjoyable.

your el camino and blue bike are super rad!!!!!

It really is fun. I'd forgotten. I borrowed a buddy's bike for a weekend and went out the next weekend and bought my own. I am not too far from my job and it's almost all on bike paths so I may start riding. I could use the exercise. Have fun!  I'm off to find a big empty parking lot to do some figure 8's...

This is good parenting . Keep it up, my kids are in their teen years and are getting harder to drag out of the house without serious bribery.

Thanks! I just got a compliment from my sister the other day: she said I was a very “involved father”. We will keep riding and biking and hiking and car spotting together and I will enjoy it all as long as it lasts!

Normally I would rail in the poor build quality of a Huffy, but in this case I’m sure it’s fine. Watch the nuts , bolts, and chrome for rust. Everything else should be fine.

For a bike from 1985: it’s in amazing condition. I may take and post more detailed pics.  I tried to give it a little bath the other day because there is just so much grease and oil all over it.
