In my littlish Midwestern community.
Some random observations
1. I have no idea what sales figures are, but I am seeing a lot of their blank faced stares as I drive around
2. Electric cars are quiet, I was almost murdered today by a combination of inattentive Prius driver in e-mode and inattentive walking me.
3. Free charging stations—I noticed one for the first time in a city owned parking garage yesterday. I am the cheapest guy on the planet, and also old, so $40 dollar fill ups really grate. The idea of parking your car and getting a free refill almost makes the cheap me giddy. The philosophy major me says what if everybody drove electric? The gravy train has to end at some point, will be interesting to see what that point might be.
4. Charging stations part II—I only saw one type of plug—is that universal? Or would I need separate plugs in my garage if I buy a Fisker EMotion and a Leaf?

Plugs are not the same. Tesla is doing their own things, but even among the other brands there are differences. I believe there are adapters for most situations.
This is a little dated, but it seems to be a pretty good rundown : https://chargehub.com/en/electric-car-charging-guide.html

There was one at
the Time Attack event
I drove on Sunday. It’s kinda weird seeing the future of motorsport, even grassroots motorsport like autocross, fly by your very eyes. But the future is fast.
This guy was only 0.4s outside the top 30 (of 200+ total drivers) . He’s only been out a couple of events and I believe he could have better tires than he does . This thing is quick. More than a second faster than me.

Same here in central Florida. I can't believe how many of these are driving around. I know Tesla had a lot of orders to fill but I didn't expect to see so many so quickly.

Try living in California However, the Model 3 outsold all of BMW’s car lineup (not including SUVs, but including GTs I believe) in August. So they’re definitely moving a considerable amount now.

Stopped and looked at the chargers the other day by a gas station. All were Tesla branded but someone had zip-tied some adapter on one. Looked sketchy af but I know there is a Fisker in the area.

I’ve seen at least 4 or 5 in northern Chicago suburbs, including 2 that looked fresh from delivery in one evening.
I was hoping to be something of an early adopter when I put my deposit down not long after launch, but no way I can afford one until the lesser range models come out next year.
