NFL: we’ve introduced several changes to help speed up the games.
Also the NFL: YOU GET A PENALTY! YOU GET A PENALTY! YOU GET A PENALTY! YOU, YOU, YOU, AND YOU, YOU ALL GET PENALTIES! /oprah
Well, at least they fixed the catch rule BS, so there shouldn’t be any mor-
Fuck.
P.S., when sacking the QB, be sure to gently caress him to the turf while you gaze supportively into his eyes and reassure him that he’s a good boy.
Other than that, I’m so glad that football is back. Hell, I even got to see a CU game on TV! Nothing is better than watching Nebraska make dumb decision after dumb decision. “We need to run the clock down? Nah, we’ll just keep snapping the ball with 17 seconds left on the play clock.” “We need a third-down stop? LEMME SHOW THIS GUY HOW TOUGH I AM! *flag* ”
Seahawks at Broncos: Why is any team favored in this game? With the Seahawks it’s Russell Wilson and ??? , and it’s anyone’s guess what the Broncos’ offense will be like. Who knows. If Seattle is smart, they’ll call lots of QB keeps because the Broncos haven’t been able to stop a running QB for oh, the last fifteen years. Tom Brady gashes them regularly with his running, for God’s sake. I’m saying the Broncos win, but only because they’re at home and because I’m a fan. It’s a toss-up TBH.
Today in Denver we get one CBS game, but it’s a good one. Texans at Patriots. C’mon, Texans, you have to know everyone is rooting for you in this game, except maybe the rest of your division. I’m excited to see Deshaun Watson back and I hope he’s back to his old self.
Over on Fox we get the Niners at the Vikings early. Not a bad game, but I’ll more likely be watching the other game unless it’s a blowout. After that we have the Broncos.
The rest of the games: Bills at Ravens , Steelers at Browns (go Browns), Bengals at Colts , Titans at Dolphins , Bucs at Saints, Jags at Giants, Chiefs at Chargers (if only they could both lose), Redskins at Cardinals, Cowboys at Panthers, SNF with Bears at Packers, and the MNF double-header of Jets at Lions and Rams at Raiders.
I have beer and I have football. Sometime s oon I’ll have a car again. And my job is taking us all to a Rockies game on Thursday. Life is good.
How’s your team doing?

In theory I’m a Washington fan, but between the ineptitude on the field, the embarrassing nickname (and their even more embarrassing defense of it), and Dan Snyder, it’s sort of hard to support them (I guess I like the colors?)
In any event, I mostly just watch the Redzone channel, so hopefully will see someone playing some good football.

I still don't understand the whole get-rid-of-Kirk-Cousins sign-Alex-Smith thing.

I can get that, they are similar levels of talent, and Smith is cheaper (though he probably only has a couple more years left). They really boxed themselves in with the Franchise tag though. Tagging him might have been wise (instead of giving big money to a largely unproven QB), but it put them in a situation where it was going to be hard to justify extending him unless he was a superstar (I don’t think he is, but I guess we’ll see) , because he had so much leverage otherwise.
Cousins ended up being cheap enough that it’s easy to say they should have just paid a premium, but they didn’t know what he would end up commanding, and of course they had already burnt their bridges (because of course they did). And trading for Smith instead of going for a free agent meant that they couldn’t just see what the market for Cousins was going to be.

Looking forward to another year of the Cards rolling out a busted ass quarterback. I saw a bedazzled Cowboys decal on a beat to shit Altima last night and felt a wave of nostalgia pass over me. I could almost feel the metal bleachers of Sun Devil Stadium burning my ass while I watched Steve Beuerlein throw passes to the turf in front of 4k people.

I mean, you'll only have to watch Sam Bradford until someone breathes on him too hard and his knee explodes.

I think that highlights reel is the only way I can watch football. Football is a great sport to watch but the commercial breaks on TV are too frequent and piss me off.
Does the NFL upload extended highlights like this for every game? I would happily watch these over a full game.

My wife is a fan from back to the Fun Bunch days. But it’s getting very hard to remain interested in the team. I’m having trouble remaining interested in the NFL at all, actually. I’d much rather watch college.

Yeah they do. Usually they post them to YouTube a little while after the game is over.
I can understand it, especially if you don’t necessarily follow a team closely, or your team has gone thru a long period of losing. The Broncos were terrible last year and I found myself turning the game off and doing other stuff fairly often.

I had my doubts about Seattle, but wow your boy Keenum just led the Broncos to 470 yards. Most of me is thinking that Seattle will just not be very good this year.

Looked like a good idea today though. Smith is a good QB -- and cheaper.

Yeah, he's ok. Cousins looked good, and Keenum wasn't as bad as those 3 interceptions made it look. He didn't fall apart and kept slinging it, and threw 3 TDs. I think all three teams did ok with their choices.
