Prius: How many Rugby Players can you fit in here?
Stinger: See how many Mustang drivers you can convince this car is faster than theirs....without racing.
Avalon: Get schoolkids to try and draw the + sign design that will go on the back of the car (Seriously, why is it a Plus?)
Toyota 86: See how many golf clubs you can fit into the trunk. Bonus on getting shoes in there too.

1) This is Tennessee so Hockey players will have to do
2) I’ll give this a shot
3) I have no idea why it’s a plus. I guess they needed something above the XLE but below the Touring?
4) I can at least see if the wife and I’s both fit. My birthday is that Thursday so we’ll go golfing Friday more than likely .

For the Prius, try and see what sort of real world mileage and distance you can get without filling everything up. Take it somewhere that it wasn’t really supposed to go. Like camping and see how it does.

For the Prius something I don’t ever remember seeing is someone reviewing the usefulness of the cargo area. It’s a hatchback right? What will fit does it hold as much as a crossover. Is it a good wagon substitute? Etc

Avalon: amount of front end covered by grille/faux grille compared to less overstyled cars.
Prius: long drive vs MB E Bluetec, compare mpg like in the R&T article a few years ago.

Have you seen the Camry ads saying the styling is “bold” and “jaw-dropping”? These are people who believe there is no such thing as bad publicity. This is 1958 redux.
Now that a used E250 Bluetec will be the same price or maybe even cheaper new Prius depending on spec , maybe find a used one you could test on a several hour highway drive, make the comparison there. Here’s the original, MB people loved it:

I’ll give the ads credit. They arn’t wrong about the bold and jaw dropping aprt. I dropped my wife off at a roundabout next to a valet stand and the valet actually exclaimed “That’s a Camry ? No way that’s a Camry !”. It was pretty funny.

I can fit myself and three hockey players, and all gear including sticks, in the fintail, did that a number of times when I was a student . No need for a ski hole in that car , sticks between the seats and angled in the trunk. Funny how a 1959 design can be efficient.
I suspect these days, SUVs are required for hockey parents.

The valet must live in a cave. Bur yeah, the ad isn’t lying, it takes a lot of guts to style a car like that.

I was going to put the wife into a wagon next but when my buddy picked us up in a newer Allroad and only 3 suitcases fit in the back.... It wiped out years of trying to convince her a wagon was fine because even I had to admit the RX swallowed them easily.

Prius: Try to convince us that it isn’t the most boring hippie car on the market.
Stinger: It’s a Kia Stinger, throw out the basic info and just make the review all pics of your smiling, excited face.
Avalon: How good is a Hybrid of this size, really?
86 GT: Defend it, trying to convince people who think it’s not worth it that it actually is.

Kia Stinger GT2 RWD- Cover the badges and ask “Non-car people” to identify which brand this car belongs to like the infamous chevy ad
Toyota Avalon Hybrid XLE Plus - Sorry, what? I slept off midway while reading that.
Toyota 86 GT Black 6 Speed(Hallelujah chorus sings)- Poll 1 0-20 people after they have driven the car. How many say it has enough power? how many say It needs more power? How many say, “sorry I don’t know how to drive a manual”

A bit stereotypical on the Pri-su, with a twist: not “how roomy is the back seat”, but “how hard would it be for an elderly person to get in and out of the back?”. Kind of inspired by Brian’s post the other day in which he asked about a car for his father and mother in law - most cars fall flat on entry even if the seat would otherwise be comfortable. Particularly if you know someone elderly with a bad knee or back
, and compare vs. say, a Subaru and a van.
If the main selling point is being a four door car with aspirations of driving the whole family, it’s worth testing the limits - and if major car mags have covered the back seat room, it’s likely without thought of how easy it is to get there. For that matter, see how the front seats are on that account. If this is a car that should appeal to the elderly on points of practicality, it’s not much good if it can’t compete with a minivan for driver access.
Kia: hour long commute test? Is it capable of being driven sharply in boring driving circumstances without feeling trapped?
Avalon: possibly similar senior tests to the Prius and comparison, along with home improvement supplies tests (“do you need a pickup”/Crown Vic-ing). That and parking. Seeing how well it does the full size sedan bit.
86: as Kia, but with long interstate endurance? “How do I feel after two hours going somewhere?”

Mr Regular over at RCR used to do that in all his reviews. We could literally start a huge chain of people getting into their trunks. I never tried in my NSX and now I wish I had.

I’m seeing some of the journos start to pick them up for themselves off of lease or slightly used. I like how they look and drive so figured it would be a good option for her I won’t hate to driv e the dogs in. Looks so similar to the Cayenne it might as well be one to anyone who doesn’t like cars too. All they see is the badge.

1) take the Stinger to a track day
2) park all the others
3) fill the Prius interior with water to the roof liner. Does it handle any better?
4) Using measured and consistent whacks with a sledge hammer, how long to remove the front grill on the Toyota’s?

Do the exact opposite of what you think each is best for.
Autocross the Prius. Put a bike rack on the Stinger and go mountain biking. Put a rooftop tent on the Avalon and go ‘overlanding’ on some dirt roads in a forest somewhere. Take the 86 to Lowes or Home Depot to complete a weekend project at home.
