Is pretty. Will go again. Lots more to explore and close enough for a weekend trip. Wallowa mountains, W allowa-Whitman National Forest. Three days worth of day hikes a few weeks ago, and my first backpacking trip this last weekend. Lots of al pine lakes, meadows, flowers, and went up a couple mountains. One of those was the Matterhorn. But not the real one. This is the Oregon one.

Beautiful. Wish I didn’t live 1800 miles from this place...

Those lakes look insane! Were those super back country, or easily accessible via day hike/car camping? Been hoping to get out to that area next summer once the little one can hold herself up. This summer has been rough not getting much outdoor time at all.

Not super backcountry, but not necessarily easy for a day hike either. This last weekend we camped at ice lake, which is a steady 8 mile as cent to get there. And the previous visit was chimney lake which is shorter at 5 miles, but a steeper ascent. Lots of people use both of those as backpacking spots. You can definitely do each in a single day, but I wouldn’t call them kid friendly. Hurricane creek is a good one for that though, that’s the one two above the awesome gate, where I’m walking straight up and there’s nothing but rocks and a little stream. But these are all out and backs so you could turn around anytime.
