You know, no one is forcing you to watch his videos. I, in fact, stopped watching in late 2016.

I remember that fob distinctly. My dad’s 02 Explorer had that. 4th button in lower right corner was to open glass portion of the hatch.

It’s good to call out people who are doing something wrong in any way, no?
This just happens to be a trivial error, but when put into context of DeMuro,
it shows a lack of research -> lack of care towards his content -> lack of care that he’s misinforming his audience.
That’s detrimental to car-related content as a whole, some people will see his stuff and try to emulate it (possibly ruining chances of a new great youtube car channel), and other high-quality Youtube car guys might learn that you can get the same number of views with minimum effort, which they could try to emulate as well. Next thing you know, it’s just rich guys and their supercar vlogs.
That’s all kinda extreme (and to be honest I wrote that scenario more for my entertainment’s sake) but my point is that even a blog post like this is a tiny, tiny dent to his views, but also a tiny tiny step towards a greater and higher quality future for all of us. Takuro is fighting the good fight.

It stinks like jealousy in here. He’s producing entertainment content that earns him money , you’re producing criticisms about his key fob analysis.

The one for my parent s’ 1995 Taurus (terrible car) was like this:
That said, Ford clearly liked this basic design and stuck with it a long time, even as they tweaked the button labels and sizing.
Still, none of Ford’s fob exploits will ever match them making an Aston Martin fob by wrapping a Volvo one:

This appears identical to the fobs my 2000 Lincoln LS had.
These old fobs had such amazing battery life . The stupid proximity key for my FoST barely lasted 3 years, while I’m pretty sure one of the fobs was still on the original battery it came with when the car was brand new by the time I sold it.

The positions and button purposes were the same through at least 2006 when they stopped making the Lincoln LS. The plastic case and buttons changed slightly, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were using the same circuit board the whole time.

He wants to be pedantic and edgy, but he’s like the person that claims they have exceptional attention to detail on their resume yet they misspell a common word in the next sentence.

If an Opponaut made videos, nobody would watch them, but the content would be flawlessly accurate.

I stopped watching after his Civic Type R review. Not because he didn’t like it, but because some of the the reasons he didn’t were factually incorrect.

I had a 1999 Mercury Sable at one point and my wife had a 2000 or 2001 Ford Taurus. Pretty much exactly as I remember them.

I didn’t stop watching because of the errors, I stopped watching because the videos stopped appealing to me. When he started at autotrader, he started appealing to a wider audience. I’m not included in that because I care about details and facts and not “quirks” because I am a car person, not some casual person on youtube. I understand why he did it, but it’s no longer enjoyable for me.

Excellent. I used to really enjoy grabbing third after getting around the top of 2nd. Just as it runs out of puff, new gear, whole new shove.
But that was the 300ZX, I don’t think the MR2 gives the same thrill
