In much of the world, the colour palette from which people choose in buying a car is:
Black
White
Something in between (so silver or grey)
Here we have the antidote, or given the age of the cars involved maybe a sign of lost times.

I think a lot of that has to do with how cars are optioned and how much extra color costs in many cases.

Most cars have a blue option too (and often a red).
I tend to think that in the US at least, it has a lot to do with the fact that dealers pick the cars rather than the purchaser, and dealers don’t want to get stuck with something “weird” that won’t sell (or end up getting back an undesirable lease trade-in) , so they aren’t very adventurous in what they demand. Doesn’t explain why Tesla is as boring as the rest of them (that could be a side effect of their comparatively low volume production).

Blue is far from unusual. It’s the color range that can blend in with the silver/grey/ black/white cars without being offensive to anyone.

A lot of Teslas are leased, so it could be a similar rationale, along with not wanting to look too different and probably coming from luxury cars that are regularly leased, which means they are probably very accustomed to the leased car color palette.
