Obviously I didn’t have the scratch to buy a focus RS, I bought the ST. But after seeing a similar car with a set of mud flaps ( and constantly dealing with stone chips and mud on the front doors of the mini) I am considering this for both aesthetic and practical reasons.

Kinja'd!!!

So oppo, are mudflaps douchey or no? Any thoughts on a good brand or things I should look out for? I’m just going for black ones, not anything with crazy contrast.

Also I just crested 1000 miles. E xpect a review soon.

I would advise against unless you are driving offroad on a regular basis.

They might not look great but if someone had put them on my Camaro back in the day  it wouldn’t have Swiss cheese rear quarter panels now.

Why do you say that?

I have them on my ST. I think they’re cool.

Mud flaps are cool. A solid modification that offers both style and protection.

I think they can be a bit try-hard on some cars, but look good on others. Now and then I toy with getting a set for my fintail, as they look kind of cool and period-correct:

Mudflaps are part of the ST starter kit where I live. What having starter kit mods  implies about the owner is a matter of debate.

The perception of them being douchey is stupid. Go for some big ass red ones that scrap the ground.

I still have the factory ones on my EK Civic. I see no reason to remove them. I had them on my STI and I say go for it.

I think they look cool. I don’t know if they are worth for the practical purposes. But aesthetically they look sweet on a hot hatchback.

I support mudflats even the rally armor style ones. Had a set on the Galant thinking about getting some on the BMW.

I’ve see a few FoST, and FiSTs with them and they always look good

I had them on my first ST, haven’t got them in my second yet. I wish I did. Ford paint is soft and there are some chips on my fender that could’ve been prevented by them. Do recommend

Depending on the car, I’m a fan of mudflaps. I would go with OEM, though. Rally Armor looks a bit crass.

I drive a fair amount of gravel roads so I have a set of rallyarmors on my WRX and I definitely notice that there is much less gravel pelting the bottom of the car. I went with the subtle grey logo on black rather than one of the bolder colour combos because I prefer to be fairly  low-key, as far as bright blue hoodscooped Subarus go anyway.

The red ones scream “ BRO” but otherwise they're good.

We put Rally Armor UR on the Forester when we got it;

I think they’ve saved the sides throughout the last 10 years..

My rallycar has diy truckflaps; they were the bees knees for keeping the rocks and snow down..

No love for the Delta Integrale or Ford Focus WRC?

I think the conclusion I am coming to is that they work on mostly white rally cars.

Because it’s causing drag and if you aren’t driving in an area where you’re regularly kicking up rocks, then it’s a purely aesthetic mod that’s masquerading as functional.

Do it if you want to save yourself a lot of head and heartache. I gave my Miata flaps and it drastically reduced the splashing and rock chips across my doors and rear bumper from autocrossing.
