On a well taken care of bike they really aren’t a hassle. And if you’re spending $2k on a classic bike an extra $500 to have them gone through professionally so you don’t have to worry about it again (or pay me to do it, lol, those V65s are stupid easy to work on ) isn’t the end of the world by any means.

Hell on my neglected 40 year old bike I’ve only cleaned them once and half-assedly. The vulcan was straight up sabotage; you’d have just as much problems if someone used RTV to seal up a damn fuel rail. I’m still mad about that crap. What sort of dumbass uses RTV around fuel?

I also have stockholm syndrome because the only cool bikes I can afford are all old carbie standards, lol

Yeah, I love the looks of vintage bikes. However, I don’t have any interest in having to fuck around with the thing every time I wanna go for a ride. There’s a reason I have an LS powered car and a Miata, they just work.

On that front things like the Husqvarna 701/401 Vitpilen and the Yamaha XSR700 or  SCR950 are very appealing as they’re good looking bikes with modern things like fuel injection and brakes that actually work.
