At least I avoided puncturing the rear tire. Loaded tires can’t be patched effectively, they have to be drained and dried before the patch sealant will stick correctly... not to mention each rear tire has about $150 worth of ballast (beet juice) in them :P

I priced a pair of 18.4-28 tyres yesterday. AU$880 each fitted plus another $200 if we can’t use the old tubes .
And I swear I’ll probably put a cypress stake through one of the damn things within a month....

Beet juice huh? A quick read says it won’t clog stems, won’t freeze, is pretty non-corrosive, and non-toxic if you get a leak. Sounds like a decent if unexpected solution.
Anyways, seems like you need to move up to something with non-pneumatic tires:

T ry 420/85-30 radials. T he 34 0/85-24s on the front aren’t so bad, I mean considering how much rubber is in them... B ut the rears....oy.
