Started in a bit of a hole due to an intercom failure, which forced me to use hand signals on the first two stages, but after sorting out the intercom issues we managed to turn it around and win every stage, ultimately taking the rally by over two minutes over the fastest open class car. Now I’m wondering if a prominent UTV presence will be the future of rally.
Full write up to come, but in the meantime here’s a couple clips .

What class does a U TV run?
I don’t know, part of the fun is taking a ‘road’ car out and running stages. Aren’t there already off-road buggy races for that?
Someone ran the Thunderbird here in a Tacoma (it wasn’t me!) and I couldn’t help but think, why?

We were in “Production SxS” class, but we’re still classified in the overall as well. We had an advantage at this event because the stages played to our strengths, but a UTV would be outpaced in high speed events (UTVs top out around 80 while the rally cars will be over 120). And obviously any rainy/muddy/snowy/cold rally wouldn’t be a fun time.

Nice work!! Those YXZ’s are pretty absurd when set up for rally roads. We’ve been messing with them for a few years now, and i’m continuing to be amazed at the capabilities!
