It’s hump day. You just might need all the downforce you can get.

Hi there

Good morning! It’s a great day to take wing (s)!

Sweet dreams!

The artwork on the side of it raises many questionz.

I’m thinking “no”

That would be a dead sexy car without those ridiculous wings on it.

I don’t know if you’re old enough to remember Wacky Packages, or if they are even still a thing. This rig definitely has a Wacky Packages vibe to it.

All of them! I’ve got an aviation/photography thought experiment post coming later this morning. The Curtiss thing will have to wait a bit.

Copyrighted 1975, yeah I'm not old enough.

Luckily, that also exists, although in closed roof form.
So many curves.

Ah, I remember an argument I had on the front page on the topic of the aero Mopar wings. Somebody wrote a front page-shared article on how most wings/spoilers don’t really do much (and cited the Mopars)
, I countered with mention that the aero Mopars *were actually computer designed* and windtunnel tested, and some guy went berserk. Telling me (based on half-remembered lore) that I was wrong and further, that no wing mounted far away from the body would be useful.
I suggested that based on his wisdom, if I ever had a time machine I would be sure to go tell Brabham’s design team they were “a bunch of ass-grabbing fools”.

I picked up a summer cold. I don’t need downforce. I need uplift to get me over the hump.

Looking forward to both!

These things were super popular back in the day. You got like three of four stickers and a shitty piece of gum in the pack. I had these stuck all over my room.

I’m no aerodynamicist, but I would think that a wing with that much separation from the car, attached with metal rods that transfer the down force into the vehicle, and running in relatively clean air might be even more effective.

Colds suck. I suggest bourbon. It won’t make the cold go away, but you won’t care about it, and you might get some sleep.

When I write these things, they either bang around my head for days while I try to figure out the angle I want to take, or they spring fully formed like Athena from the head of Zeus. That’s sort of what happened with today’s post.

That had been precisely my point. Then again, guy was arguing every side of the argument except the correct one. “They didn’t have advanced enough tech to make good designs”/”There’s no point in having a wing so far away from the body”/”It wouldn’t have been in clean air”/
”There would be too much drag”/etc. All at the same time, with some mutually exclusive facets.

I don’t think they will let me work while I’m drunk. Then again, they might. It would be amusing - I’m using a standing desk. :D

I’ve heard mixed reviews on the standing desk. Do you like it?

I’ve been at it for five years or so. Since I’m now working at a client site, I’ve had to improvise.
So, yeah, I guess I like it. I do have to take breaks, usually in the late afternoon.
