Okay, I guess they probably aren’t. But they’re starting to really get on my nerves. I know that not every Jalopnik headline is a thesis statement, but it seems like more and more of them are. It’s lazy/annoying.

It’s better than, “Police say something and we take that out of context and out it in the title: Police.”

Or, “We again take something out of context from a report in order to garner clicks: Report.”

I could go on. It’s “report: information.” or “Law Enforcement has said blah blah blah.”

Put some fucking effort into it!!!!!

The irony of your headline being a thesis statement is ironic.

Isn’t the headline kind of supposed to be the thesis?

I don’t get the hate. Newspaper headlines had to be abrupt because of space considerations; this is not so much the case with web journalism. I feel that the “thesis statement” headline is excellent, as it tells exactly the content and the eventual conclusion of the article.

It goes along with the New Journalism, where we not only give you the news but tell you what to think about it.  That’s full service.

I’ll take that over “You’ve been doing “Blank” wrong your entire life”. You don’t know me, random article title. Y ou don’t know my story!

Thesis headlines are at least enticing, they’re more prone to catch a reader than just, “2019 Ram 1500.”
