Jolene lives. Got her out of the garage this evening for the first time since last Monday. Replaced the cracked coolant reservoir. Got my replacement radio and cassette player in the mail today, too. Hopefully, those can go in this weekend.

Here she is all Instagrammed:

Also found out that the serpentine belt is pretty old and a bit sketchy looking, so that’ll need to be replaced sooner rather than later. No biggie, though. Gotta love RockAuto.

My first car was a ‘92 Sunbird SE-V6 Coupe over 10 years ago. I’m incredibly jealous of you, I miss the hell out of mine.

Gotta love Rockauto for the older vehicles.

Cost me $200 to completely rebuild the suspension on my car, using quality parts!

Glad to hear you got her back out of the garage!

I wish mine had the V6, but that didn’t become the optional engine in the Sunbird until 1991, and mine is a late-build (6/90) 1990. The optional engine in ‘90 was still the 2.0 Turbo. But mine has like zero options anyway.

Yes! I’m a huge Dolly Parton fan. Seen her in concert twice and I’ve been to D ollywood. Amazing!

It’s an even better name for a race car. “please don’t steal my man” - ha!

Mine had just about all the options. V6, power windows, factory CD player, alloys, but it was still a 5 speed standard. Car had amazing pickup, the 3.1L V6 wasn’t a particularly powerful motor, but when it was in that tiny car it was quick as sin on acceleration. The 3.1L was a nightmare to work on though. Years later I had a ‘94 coupe that I entered in a demo derby (it was rotted beyond any reasonable repair) and it had the 4 cylinder. But it was the Opel sourced 2.0L SOHC variant. That little motor was tough as nails. I was seriously impressed by it.

Factory CD?! Wow. That’s super rare.

Mine has the little N/A 2.0 OHC. Pitiful slow but reliable and simple!

The factory deacon CD player only really worked when you were sitting still. If you tried to use it while you were driving it would skip like nobody’s business.
