Sport.

My ‘15 Sport displays as an SR5, even on the Toyota Owners site.

It’s the TRD Sport SR5 , of course.

What I came up with (non-Toyota dealer)

× VIN Attributes

Vehicle Base Configuration: VL140994 : Toyota - Tacoma (2017) Region: RE1 : United States Engine Base: ENB2091 : 3.5 Liter 6 Cylinder(s) 3.70" Bore 3.27" Stroke Fuel Type: FLT5 : GAS Body Number of Doors: BND5 : 4 Body Type: BDY22 : Crew Cab Pickup Wheel Base (Inches): WBI#5214 : 127.4 Aspiration: ASP5 : Naturally Aspirated Cylinder Head Type: CHT6 : DOHC Fuel Delivery Config: FDC456 : D-4S Electronic FI DI Valves: VLV5 : 24 Engine Manufacturer: ENM43 : Toyota Power Output Configuration: PWR1189 : 278 HP Wheel Base (Metric): WBM#5615 : 323.6 Engine Version: ENV3 : N/R Ignition System Type: IST6 : Distributorless Engine Designation: END15476 : 2GRFKS Engine VIN: EVN1 : -

I would call an actual Toyota dealer with the VIN and ask them to decode it.

That’s so weird. Manheim knew the difference immediately on one side then another Manheim pop up said it was a SR5.

If it wasn’t a real TRD Sport, someone paid more money to convert it (hood swap to get the scoop, turn signal mirrors, TRD Sport decals, body color grill/flares/rear bumper,  wheels) than if they had just bought a Sport to begin with. Not that that’s unheard of, but seems highly unlikely on a relatively new one.

A 2wd would be useless in MT 5 months of the year. You would have to put 500 lbs of weight in the bed and mount studded snow tires to move out of your driveway.

Trd Sport, Trd Off-road, and Limited are all trim packages added to the SR5 model.

Hood scoop means it’s either a S port or a Pro. Body colour flares and door handles mean it’s a sport. Also sport wheels.
