Did some brewery hopping today, and as a result I went to bed pretty early; consequently, I woke up at 1:50. How am I killing time until I’m tired again? Simple, unnecessary car shopping.
When I got into cars I wasn’t really a fan of Mercedes; however, cars like the W123 turned me into a fan. Of all the V8 super sedans that came out in 2008 (M3, C63, RS4, IS-F) the M3 was always my favorite with the C63 a very distant second. The lack of a manual and a hood ornament, cemented the fact I would buy an E9X M3. Now that the C63 has fallen into affordable car territory, I find myself lusting after one.
For 31k, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is a pretty decent deal; in fact, it’s three years newer and has done less miles than my M3. I never really wanted for a C63 until I drove one. The glorious engine note coupled to the fact that it drives pretty great has made me want one. Plus, who would want to say no to this interior.
Because the M3 is paid for, I’m now in a position to be able to afford a C63. I also don’t drive 400+ miles a week, anymore, so fuel consumption becomes less of an issue. I know the cheaper solution would be to ditch the 3 and DD the M3, but the M3 is a car I’m not sure I ever want to get rid of. Sure, it’s a lot slower than the newer one, but it’s still a fantastic driving car.
Something like a C63 would quell my need to drive the M3 everyday. It might be excessive to have two fast German sedans, but I want another one. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

RPM’s C63 is really great, one of my favorite cars I’ve seen in person. But he’s no dummy: he has a warranty and the correct headbolts.

Pretty sure the 2010 I drove today had the head bolts taken care of.
I was also driving my M3 like it’s supposed to be driven today, deep into the rev range, and I fell for it again.

I think RPM’s has a pittance of miles compared to what you drove though.
As for your M3:
Perhaps, but less face some non-
Alternative Facts: the 328i is on the chopping block. I would say that buying two high performance sedans that are direct competitors will probably not lead to satisfying results, though. I mean, which one do you drive to keep miles off the other? Which one for long trips? Which one is the “more reliable” of the two? I think you should consider some contrast.

I got my M3 with 15.7k miles on it. It’s got a little over 46k now.
The 328i is on the chopping block because I could get something more exciting. I drive it to keep the miles off the M3, so this car would take over that role. So what you’re saying is I should find a green SS with a stick.

You would be a Hero of Oppo if you got an SS. There is one... I think two? ... Oppos with an SS, though he seldom
posts.

Sadly, finding a manual green SS would be arduous.

I envy so many of you. I feel I may never buy a 5-figure car for myself.

I’m doing potentially necessary car shopping, and I didn’t realize CRZs had gotten so cheap. My first car was a 1990 CRX Si and I loved it, love the look of the CRZ too. I know performance isn’t great but I kinda want to buy one, DD it for a year or two and then k swap it when the battery pack goes kaput.

1. Do NOT get rid of the E90 M3. LCI, manual sedans are appreciating and a well cared for example will be extremely valuable (and thats not even adding to the fact of how great of a drive it is).
2. The 328i is not something I’ ve seen you excited about at all so a change may be a nice if you can do it.
3. The C63 is awesome in a very different way the E90 is, which means you will pick a car for a different occasion after you have lived with both and determined what they are best at. I don’t think it’s that crazy of an idea.
4. Get the headbolts dealt with and be good to it maintenance-wise. It will treat you well in return.

1. It’s not going anywhere, unless someone wants to give me way too much money for it.
2. It probably makes more sense to keep it, but I’m thinking about it.
3. I agree with this.
4. I think I’d rather get a 2014 or newer with that taken care of from the factory. Maybe some point in the future.
