For now looks like a lower coolant hose popped off the tank but I’ll know for sure tomorrow when it’s not dark and raining. Unfortunately I had to limp her home a mile like that so I’ll be sending the oil for analysis to make sure there’s no burn damage or head gasket issues resulting.

Uh oh, hopefully it was OK...did you shut it down and at least let it cool off a bit first before you drove the last mile home?

Yeah. Could still smell the oil cookin’ though. No safe place to leave the car overnight and nobody I called for a ride answered anyways so I decided to just go for it and get it home.

If there is damage... I’m not sure it’s worth it on a car with 260k miles. A head gasket isn’t a job I can do myself so it’d cost me as much as the car is worth to get it done.

I recently had to spend most of my savings on personal/medica l stuff so my plan is that there’s just no damage.
